Exited for the FF games, especially XII and VII. Was initially interested in Cities Skylines too, until...

tl;dr... The port has huge performance issues.

It was a really good Direct. Games, games, games, games, games.

FF7! Luigis Mansion 3! (I'm one of the few who preferred the 3DS version so I'm not too bothered which direction it goes in), Katamari Damacy, a new Game Freak Game, Animal Crossing and a great new character for Smash as well (although it sghould have been KK Slider! I suppose we need more female rep though!). Even having Asmodee on board is a super cool thing, loads to look forward to, and STILL no sign they are stopped on Smash! Thats already eight new characters, not bad considering that they were saying there wasn't many new characters, I honestly though at one point it was only Inkling and Ridley.

The footage in the Direct looked dreadful. I was certain it was going to say 2019.

Also only 1 set per sub, so I assume a family sub of 8 people can only have 1 between them. Not great for those who want the share subs with online peeps and more than one from the sub wants the same thing.

For all Nintendo's gooseberry fool I don't think it's really fair to have a pop at them for this (the price of the things maybe). The subscription requirement seems like a way to stop scalpers and let's face it these would go out of stock in a hot second if they went on general sale. You can only use them for the NES games so if you want them you'll have a sub anyway. And these making it harder to abuse an online subscription service by using it in a way it's clearly not intended, even if it is a shitehouse service, isn't exactly top of the list of ways Nintendo treats it's customers like walking cash dispensers.

Of course when Nintendo doesn't make enough of these, so only 1% of the mugs who sign up for the service can actually get them, feel free to roll your eyes and kick them like the rest of us.

Personally I wouldn't even look into getting a set of the NES joycon controllers anyway, think they should have just released a set of NES themed actual joycons so you could use them for all the games on the console rather than just the re-released NES games.

I agree it'll be good for scalpers, but what if say me and my sister's decided to share a family sub, then only 1 of us can get a set.

Hmm didn't think of that, it is a bit of a pain. I really think Nintendo wants the family sub to be a household thing.

I suppose the best bet is just to get a separate sub for one for month and then buy them. If you both really want them that is, how much are you really going to play these NES games, and they'll just release SNES ones down the line which will probably be backwards compatible.

I had this worry in spades after E3. New characters are practically what I buy Smash for, and here they were saying we wouldn’t get many? Gutted, I was, gutted! Only for them to tear that worry down brick by brick in the ensuing Directs. Heck, Mêlée only had seven all-new fighters (six clones), and we’re at five already. Thanks for making me (and DML) worry for nothing Sakurai!

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but would I be able to set up a family account to use for me and 7 other mates?

Would for example there be any issue with them buying games if they aren’t the person who set up the account?

Can the accounts be spread across different consoles?

I also worry that down the line they will add say SNES games for a small extra monthly subscription. Would we then be tied into paying for a “family upgrade” for these, when maybe only certain people want them?

Still feel they have been really unclear about this whole thing. I’ll get the service because I want to play Mario Kart, Rocket League and Splatoon, but it’s looking a bit of a mess.

Main issue I currently know about is that one person has to pay and the collect the payment from everyone else.

I have no idea how it works in terms of unlinking accounts from a family group. Knowing Nintendo that could cause issues in the future.

I'm wondering if Karl and Gecko may start GRcade Online...

* They can't access the forum simultaneously. Each member will be asigned a particular day to log in.

I think another issue is that if you get say a group of 8 people on the family pass, only one of you will be able to get stuff from the store. In that, the NES Joy-cons, I believe that even if you have a family sub, only one pair can be bought. Meaning if a few of you were eyeing it up or something cooler later down the line. You'd all be buggered.
