DxM might be my game of 2019, unless Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an utter belter.

Town looks good too. So much good stuff! :D

Can't believe you have to have the paid subscription to even be able to order the NES pads.

Also only 1 set per sub, so I assume a family sub of 8 people can only have 1 between them. Not great for those who want the share subs with online peeps and more than one from the sub wants the same thing.

Still nothing to suggest we will see other consoles (SNES etc) included in Switch online. Seems strange that they’ve not said it. Is it just because they’re not going to do it?

I think we will see Metroid Prime 4 at the The Game Awards this year and hopefully a Metroid Prime Trilogy HD announcement alongside it.

I guess this will be the last Direct in this vein for the year (I’m sure we will get Smash and Pokemon focused Directs to end the year)

No one seems to know!

I'd love it if they eventually got loads of there back catalogue of games on the Switch via it's online subscription, yesterday would have been the ideal time to announce it. 20 NES games to start with more coming out over the coming months, SNES games starting to come out next year and so on. But they didn't, oh well.

Lots to be excited about.

FFIX in particular for me - love the hand-painted art style and its music.

But Crystal Chronicles (which no one is noticing!) is the main surprise for me - its still got one of my favourite game moods and aesthetics of all time, though the link-cable gameplay was cumbersome. This is a lovely refresh for it, though I'm a little worried the multiplayer is online only (using the Switch as the GBA screen) as opposed to local where the magic lies. Any clarity on this?

Still better than the alternative of sharks hoovering them all up in 1 go and selling them for double the price on eBay when Nintendo undoubtedly don't manufacture enough.

Only because we heard about it already due to the direct getting delayed, so it wasn't a surprise during the direct. I am very excited for it!

It's a good point about the multiplayer, I would hope it has local!

Final Fantasy VIII didn’t get ported as they lost the assets. That’s what I read online but can’t find it.

Just realised Spyro was never shown to be (officially) Switch bound, for how many times its been leaked I was actually expecting to finally see it being made official.

Genuinely think the best thing shown was the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle. When I get a Switch that'll be a must have. Gutted it doesn't have AVP on it though. :(

It's a shame as a good few of their best beat 'em ups are licenses that are less likely to see rereleases, AVP is indeed absolutely sublime and deserving of a second chance

AVP is definitely the jewel missing from that collection. Phenomenally good fun, just a shame that it'll be the inevitable rights issues that prevented it.

Armored Warriors is pretty decent as well from what I remember and it's great that it's finally getting a console port. Can't remember if Cyberbots ever got one to be honest.

There was a Captain Commando arcade machine in my halls of residence at Uni and we used to play the strawberry float out of that. I'm buying that collection purely for that game

Yeah. The Beat-Em-Up Bundle is gonna be worth getting just to see where a load of obscure Marvel Vs Capcom 2 characters and assist characters came from.

Definitely gonna be picking that one up I think.

Is it the full arcade version of Final Fight in that?

Also, was it confirmed that only multiplayer NES games will be online and multiplayer, so they're not making Zelda multiplayer somehow

Overall a really impressive showing from Nintendo, it started off with a big announcement and ended with a huge one.
This honestly was a much better Direct than the Smash one and shows Nintendo has some really cool looking stuff to come next year, even for the 3DS.

Still a bit lukewarm for the paid online, but as it's only £17.99 a year it's not too expensive to worry about.

Arguably a better Direct than E3.
