I hate this trend of calling a simple port a remaster.

This is definitely the simplest yet most effective bit of trolling in a long while.

How many in house studios does Nintendo own?
How many games could they be making in a conservative estimate? 5? 10?

It's quite hard to make a solid estimate, but here goes an overview:

EPD, their in-house studio has 10 production groups. I think around 6-7 are internal teams and 3-4 deal with external team collaborations. Then they have a mobile phone group too.

Additionally, they own Nd Cube (Mario Party), Retro (Metroid Prime 4), Monolith Soft (Xenoblade) and NST (ports now mainly).

On top of that, you have studios they don't own but have worked with a lot over the years such as: Gamefreak (Pokemon), Intelligent Systems (FE and Paper Mario), Next Level Games (Luigi's Mansion 3), Hal (Kirby), Bandai Namco (Smash), Grezzo (Link's Awakening), Good Feel (Yoshi) and Camelot (Mario Tennis).

Then there are those they have recently collaborated with: Platinum (Starfox Zero), Mercurysteam (Samus Returns), Koei Temco (Fire Emblem - Three Houses).

That seems like a vast amount of people working considering the actual output of games from Nintendo.

I mean, Nintendo are one of the most prolific publishers in the world. They published 24 titles last year with an average metacritic score of 80:

Fair enough. I suppose I don't notice a lot of the output as it either isn't aimed at me or isn't one of their big franchises.

Maybe they need to do a bit more advertising?

Last year was a very good one for the company and the Switch. My worry is that it’ll look more like 12 this year.

With E3 now having been cancelled I do hope Nintendo still do a direct around June time, would feel odd if they didn’t.

Not really sure what Nintendo could bring to the table this year that would blow people away. BOTW 2 is great but it’s a sequel.

Feeling pretty down about the Switch line up at the moment, they really need to pull out all the stops in the next Direct.

I still think it’s a good idea to bring them over but they need to mix them in with new games for the crowd that already owned a Wii U. 2018 was a poor year for Nintendo releases on Switch, hopefully 2020 does not follow suit.

It was pretty much just objectively proved. That’s not including any Nontendo titles: my favourite two Switch games last year were not Nintendo published.
