I get games take a lot of time to make but nearing 5 years and still nothing to show? It's just bizarre. The only thing I can think of is they're working on Metroid again but even then, 5 years and all we get is a logo saying Metroid Prime 4 is coming? Doesn't seem right.

There's always the possibility they started a project that later got cancelled

Yeah there is that possibility but 5 years still seems a long time to hear nothing about any new projects from them in my opinion.

Technically we’ve heard about the DK port but yeah, I agree. Hopefully it means a really ambitious project rather than something that goes wrong.

I wasn't counting the Tropical Freeze port as it's just that, a port. That might sound a little unfair as it obviously still takes work but I'd guess it's nothing compared to a new game. Hopefully the wait is actually worth it.

I want to use the Orange template to demonstrate my purchasing plans, too!

Definitely
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition (all characters! all scenarios!)
Mario Tennis Aces (looks terrific!)
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion (because Adventure Time)

Probably
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
Luigi's Mansion 3DS

Maybe
Captain Toad (but would have preferred more new levels)
Dark Souls (but will prob get on PS4 instead)
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
Octopath Traveler
Pearl and Marina amiibo (if they don't sell out in 22 seconds)

No!
I absolutely must not get Smash Bros. I've bought it on N64, Wii and Wii U and barely played any of them; I just don't get on with fighting games. Still gotta resist the massive hype, though :shifty: .

Whilst I'm really pleased people are going to get to finally play all these great Wii U games it's all a bit crap if you were a Wii U owner who has been there already. That said......

New Toad Levels >>>>>>>>>>> Funky Kong

Can't believe they are releasing a 3DS game in 2019.

Thought tennis looked fab but it depends on how all the powers balance. On paper it looks like they counter each other out nicely but hopefully it works in practice to. Obviously being able to turn them all off for classic play is a plus as well.

How many of them were new, though? :shifty:

I haven't actually watched it but a lot of the stuff people were posting about were things that we already knew about, or ports of games that people have already played before (with the obvious exception of Smash, but that was more a confirmation of "yes we are making one please stop bugging us".

It's surprising that there are a number of previously-announced games that didn't get a mention in the Direct. Gotta keep 'em in mind :) .

I think there were 5 brand new announcements:

WarioWare
Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers
(already announced in Japan apparently)
Sushi Striker
Splatoon Expansion
Super Smash Bros

I'm not sure how much of an extra game it is, but there was also Bowser Jr.'s Journey as part of Bowser's Inside Story

Then 8 of the ports were previously unannounced at least too:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey
Luigi's Mansion
Okami HD
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Undertale
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
Little Nightmares Complete Edition
South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Of the remaining games we already knew about, 5 are new titles:

Detective Pikachu
Kirby Star Allies
Octopath Traveller
Travis Strikes Again
Mario Tennis Aces

And 2 are ports:

Dark Souls: Remastered
Hyrule Warriors

5 brand new announcements, 5 new games we already knew about, 7 previously unannounced ports, 2 ports we already knew about (and then ARMS testpunch to bring us to 21 games total in the direct).

The direct was basically 50% ports, and 25% brand new announcements.

For a March direct it was absolutely fine, if it was an E3 direct then I'd be starting to be worried.

Yeah, nothing there interests me either. So far I've only got Mario so will eventually get BotW to make the Switch seem an intelligent purchase, as I've already completed Mario.

Should have heard Pedz last night

Hey, I wasn't salty about every game coming to 3DS. My only complaint was Luigi's Mansion and WarioWare Gold.

21 games announced and DLC doesn;t count as a game, we already knew about that Sushi shite. Disappointing direct really, save for Smash.

Didn't realise Sushi Striker was already announced, seems that it was announced previously for 3DS but this was reveal of Switch version? Seems like a dual release rather than a port, so it fits somewhere between "new games we already knew about" and "brand new announcements" I guess. Not that anyone has any interest in it whatsoever

Paid new singleplayer campaign definitely counts as a new announcement to me! It looks like DLC closer to the level of Infamous First Light or Dishonored Death of the Outsider.

Pretty sure regardless your numbers should be 2, or 3 including Dillon, as both WarioWare and Smash were unarguably brand new games.

Warioware Gold seems to be a lot of the old mini games with some new mini games added.

As someone who skipped the Wii U I'm very pleased with all these ports coming over - Captain Toad sounds like a little gem of a game!

I can see why some of the Wii U owners may be a little disappointed though - but as this is only a Direct I think we should keep faith that Nintendo are still sitting on some nice announcements for the second half of the year yet!

I am thinking they are keeping stuff back, but the cynic in me think that, with Mario, Zelda, Yoshi, Smash, Kirby, Mario Tennis, MK8D, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles and a few other already announced titles. Bar Animal Crossing what the strawberry float do they have left to announce

Something from Retro, something from Next Level Games, Paper Mario, Starfox, 2D Mario, 2D Zelda, Mario Golf, Mario Party, Pikmin....still plenty to go.
