It's cool when they put the directs on at this time as I can watch it with my son.

Focusing entirely on software I see...

Would be nice to get some surprises, the line up for this year has been good but not great from my perspective - a couple of extra big hitters would be nice to see on the horizon.

Yep I’m hoping for some surprises too, to end the year with a bang. I think we have a great year ahead already, but not a great ‘all Nintendo’s resources working on one machine’ year. Not yet.

Out of the games we know about, this year it’s Luigi's Mansion. Next year it’ll be Metroid.

Like I said in the other thread, 5 is meh for me, since I usually work until 6 and will be putting in some extra hours because new job. No live E3 chat for me this year. :(

As I mentioned in the Switch thread the direct should fall on my Tuesday off, really hard to call what I’m looking forward to the most though.... definitely between Pokémon Sword/Shield and Animal Crossing though.

E3 is a month off and I am ready to enjoy the three days of Treehouse as per normal.

Yeah!

I've come to really enjoy a lot of the Treehouse streams too. Hoping we get more info shed on Animal Crossing on there if it's being shown.

I've said it before, but I'm expecting four showings of the new Animal Crossing and two for Sword/Shield. I've always enjoyed the Treehouse streams, but last year's felt bad due to the anticipation of having to sit through another Smash segment. I've got a feeling it'll be more like in 2017, though, hence the above four and two expectation for those two games [since the highlight game gets double the segments of nearly every other game].

Very much doubt we’ll see Metroid next year considering it went into production this year.

I do hope a secret 2D Metroid is on the cards though.

It's a shame that it looks like we won't see anything about an upgraded Switch as I'm pretty confident that will be my jumping in point.

New 3DS was announced in August 2014, a couple of months after E3, so there's still hope of seeing the Switch "lite" version soon.

Most rumours were pointing to that being a 2020 launch anyway

I’m kind of glad they’re focusing on games rather than new hardware at E3, after all games sell the consoles so having a stronger library of games will mean when a Switch revision does arrive (if it does of course) it should get off to a strong start if its priced well.

Fair enough talk a lot about hardware if its kicking off a new generation for the company but partway through software should take priority.

I don’t think we’ll see Metroid Prime 4 in 2021 let alone 2020.

I’m sure we have a 2D Metroid coming soon though.

I’m thinking they will announce that SNES games are coming the NSO service and will that they will launch straight after the Direct.

I think this year is set in terms of what software Nintendo are releasing (Maybe one Wii U port like Pikmin 3) but we may see more third party announcements and perhaps 1 or 2 teases towards Nintendo’s software plans for 2020.

I think next year we will see either a new 3D Mario or 3D Zelda that will be ready to launch around the time the new consoles arrive.
