Carlos wrote:I'm not convinced we will see Zelda this year. Covid will have taken its toll on development of big titles and I imagine it is behind schedule.

Of announced titles we should see Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3 and a port of Xenoblade Chronicles X as the xmas titles with Splatoon 3 the big 'family' game coming with a Battle Royale mode in tow. Wind Waker HD and Twlight Princess HD will be out in September.

As the new season of Fortnite launches next week with an alien/space theme expect Samus to be announced as a Fortnite skin together with Jonesy coming to Smash as the next DLC character. There will hopefully be more Animal Crossing news as there are still a TON of missing features from New Leaf (specifically Ganon, Medlii etc as villagers!)

We might get the Rare Replay collection announced as a Switch release with Perfect Dark HD cross platform online multiplayer.

Splatoon 3 was given a 2022 release date on its reveal

Thank you!

I am getting far too excited for my own good. After last year I think I need at least two big 2021 titles and a release date for BotW2 to feel not disappointed, and I can't help thinking that's too much... but I'm still getting excited.

Nintendo Directs are the one of the few things I can’t help but get excited for, knowing how they can swing from amazing to meh isn’t ideal but when you get an amazing Direct/E3 they feel really special

Donkey Kong 40th anniversary game is a 3D Donkey Kong, which starts like the 2D sections in Odyssey but after the first few levels becomes a huge 3D platformer.

No BOTW2.

No 35th anniversary for Zelda at all.

No Metroid.

New Fitness game announced.

One more thing is Mario Kart 9.

The direct is a port of last year's presentation but in a higher resolution.

I think a trailer for the BoTW sequel is almost a definite, alongside a name at the end. Almost definitely we’ll get a trailer/update on the Pokémon remakes, maybe one on Legends Arceus too? Outside of these I really wouldn’t like to say, you never know what Nintendo will do  I can’t remember the name of the game but I’m sure it was last year and they mentioned it as one more thing (I think), then it was an awful looking fighting game :dread:

If we are going to get a second Mario Kart on the same console I hope that means they would try something a bit different. A "Mario Kart Resort" where you can free-roam, get out the kart and play other sports or just platform about is still a dream game for me.

There should be newly announced games coming this year but who knows what tbh.

What I'd like:

BOTW sequel news.
Metroid Prime 4 update, even just to confirm it's not been canned again
Mario Odessey DLC (64 and isle delphino)
GBA / N64 virtual console
SOME NEW GAMES THAT AREN'T strawberry floating WII U PORTS
Donkey Kong 3d game in the odessey style

What we'll get:

MORE strawberry floating WII U PORTS
4 hours of smash brothers
Amiibo crap

If they do show BOTW2, I hope they do it early, that way we know they're going to end with some super-duper massive surprise.

They won't. It will be the One Last Thing. They'll start with Smash, there'll be one more big new game in the middle, and everyone will wonder why they did it into that order.

I find these things impossible to predict. Apart from the above I'd say we'll get too long on known quantities (Mario Golf, NMH3), one chunk of unnecessary JRPG explanation, and at least ten minutes on ports of old games everybody's bought elsewhere. But I think there'll be at least a couple of non-BotW smash hits. (Not Smash hits.)

They're not going to do DLC for a nearly four year old game, surely.
