'Exclusively on software' seems key here.

Nintendo Treehouse live will also be happening straight after the Direct with around 3 hours of Gameplay from games shown in the Direct.

Well I didn’t tweet it but kind of guessed this would be around the time they hosted their event. Nintendo insider status almost confirmed :datass:

5pm? Nice. It's looking like i will be able to watch the key conferences live this year. I think it was Sony who always had one at about 2am.

40 minutes feels a little short to me for a really top Direct. We know ten minutes will be spent on existing software, and another ten minutes on revealing one JRPG.

Plus 20 minutes on Smash means there’s no time left then

5pm is a good time for me anyway, hopefully they put out a clear schedule for what’s on the treehouse and when.

5pm is nice, straight from work and watch that.

Excited for the new Zelda above all else.

I imagine we'll get a little glimpse and title release at a minimum.

Zelda will be here 100% in some capacity, but I still think BotW 2 is a March 2022 game.

The last few digital E3 Directs have been between 30-40 minutes so this is bang on point.

So I've found out since posting that. The last few E3 Directs have also been... highly variable, so can't make any assumptions from that!

Okay so that's ten minutes on existing titles, ten minutes on one JRPG, five minutes of Wii and Wii U ports, three minutes Smash, two minutes quickfire showcase, two minutes talking heads, leaving eight minutes of excuses for why BotW2 has been delayed to 2023.

You missed a token one sentence acknowledgment that Metroid exists but is nowhere near release.

Hello, here's some games you're not interested in for this year. As for Zelda and Metroid we're still not ready to show you anything.
