What is Miiverse?
Miiverse is a service that allows Nintendo users to communicate with other Nintendo users around the world. It is an online portal for the Wii U and 3DS in which you can share messages, drawings, screenshots and video with other fans.

> To find out more about the Miiverse service, and to see a video of it in action, click here.

> Miiverse is also viewable on computer devices via the internet: click here to logon.

What is this thread for?
It's a place for GRcaders to share their Miiverse posts, drawings, screenshots, comments and chat. Whilst GRcade's Nintendo fans can do this through their Nintendo devices, this thread opens up the Miiverse world to all GRcaders as well as enabling discussion on how the drawings or comments were prepared. Share, talk and have fun!

How can Miiverse posts be shown in this thread?
The first time that you share a post may take you a few minutes; but once you're used to the process it is very easy.
Step 1: Obtain the Miiverse post's unique reference code
Use a computing device to access the internet version of Miiverse; click here to logon. Logon using your usual Nintendo Network ID (NNID) and password. Navigate to your User Page and then click on the Activity tab. Select your post that you want to share by clicking on on it. The post will appear on screen; click on the "Embed this post" link. Lines of 'computer code' will appear; the only bit you need to copy is the sequence of random letters and numbers that appears after "/posts/".

Step 2: Use the unique reference code in GRcade
When posting in GRcade, select the 'miiverse' button that appears in the post menu bar. Paste the unique reference code in and you're good to go. Preview or submit your post and you should see your Miiverse post appear in all its glory!

Commenting on Miiverse posts in GRcade
The goal is to have lots of fun and good times when we share or comment on the Miiverse posts. Feedback, advice and positive criticism is encouraged, as is the famous GRcade 'banta'... but please avoid denigrating the efforts of other GRcaders.

Hints and tips
> If you're a Nintendo user logged onto Miiverse via a computer, you can "Yeah!" a post whilst viewing it in GRcade!

Thank you to...
> Karl (GRcade's Kawaii) for enabling Miiverse posts to be displayed in GRcade.
> Jay (GRcade's Jay Adama) for creating the cool thread graphic.

Thread maintenance
This opening post will be updated by jawa (GRcade's jawafour) with new information based on thread feedback. Thank you.

I'll kick off the thread with a couple of my recent Wii U draws:

VVVVVV is one of my favourite 3DS games and I love the simplicity of the graphics. I have a bit of a thing for drawing hands; I think it's because I can't do bodies :-).

I've got into the American cartoon "Adventure Time" and BMO ("Beemo") is a GameBoy-type character that plays old-school video games. He's just cool.

Great work with this thread jawa, you are an organised man!

A Miiverse question: can you create your own Miiverse communities that aren't specifically tied to a game? Are all they all game specific?

For example, when I log into Miiverse on my PC, it shows the GRcade Mario Kart tournaments I've taken part in as 'communities'. Is it possible to create a generic GRcade one for all GRcaders to post in?

One of our fellow GR users sent me a grotesque picture of an angry penis attached to a medieval cannon. I reported this deviant and he received an official warning from one of Nintendo's family-focused moderators.

It's rather put me off going on the Miiverse again.

Cracking questions, Jay... and I'm not certain about the answers! To my awareness, users can create a community area for a specific game; GRcade's Mario Kart 8 crew have created a few tournaments and these appear to be reflected as areas within the Mario Kart 8 community in the Miiverse. However, I don't think that we can create a single over-arching "GRcade" community; the main communities are devised by Nintendo.

Dragon (DD64) has created a couple of Kart 8 communities and could hopefully confirm the details. Dragon, we need you...

If we make a Wii U game, we can have our own community.

Blimey! That pic sounds a bit below the belt...

Nintendo does moderate the Miiverse with a high level of pro-activeness and, to be honest, I quite like that. You don't (usually) get cocks and swear-y stuff appearing because the posts are quickly deleted and the users that posted them are banned. It's quite a pleasant and enjoyable place, Gario - I'd recommend you dive in and try it out.

"GRcade - The Video Game" would definitely need a Parental Guidance warning.

Nah, you can only create specific sub-communities within certain games.

So you can have Mario Kart Tournament communities which fall under the Mario Kart Miiverse, and Wii Fit has similar functionality. You can only create (they're usually automatically generated) the sub-communities within the supported games, but I guess we could technically "hijack" a sub-community and use it as our own hub.

Useful info, TAP. The ability to use a particular game sub-community for GRcaders sounds cool... but we'd need to bear in mind that when we make a Miiverse post (in that or any other community) it would automatically appear on the activity feeds of our all of our Miiverse friends and followers. It wouldn't be 'private' just to that community area.

I'm actually not that sure about it, as I've never noticed any random "private" community posts appearing on my feed. I believe they might only be visible in the Activity Feed by friends who are also in the same community, so that could be something worth testing out.

This sounds intriguing - I will try and delve further into it, TAP.

I love Miiverse, to the extent I actually miss it a bit when on the PS Vita. I've seen some complaints that the community is a bit too peppy and upbeat, but for me that just makes it a pleasing antithesis to Twitter :P

Yeah, Jazzem, I can see why it may be a little too 'clean' for some tastes (swearing and stuff just isn't allowed) but I, too, find it refreshing after reading through the bile and intolerance on most videogaming boards. Excluding the mighty GRcade, of course!

Anyhow.... anyone remember this guy?

I find the pixel style pretty tough to do on the Wii U but there are many artists in the Miiverse who have totally mastered the art; their eye-sight and concentration must be phenomenal.

[Bump]

I've been fortunate to have gotten back in touch (thanks, Twitter!) with a few pals that I had on Miiverse. One of them, a terrific artist called Colgo, shared a pic that he did of me. Just think that he did this on the Gamepad using a stylus... amazing!
