It'd be pretty cool if you could use this as an Nvidia Shield. I mean, I know there's no chance of that happening but we can dream.

I got the feeling it's going to be 300 quid at least, HSH.

The Wii-U was £280 and that was considered expensive.

Nintendo won't that mistake again.

£250 or under. I do hope they don't charge a fortune for the games though.

The Wii was what, £180 on launch using generation old technology? I don't think we'll see anything sub £200 again.

I like the idea of Game Cards... but what about download storage? I'd assume that maybe "blank" cards will be available; although this approach would suggest that space could be quite limited? Or perhaps Nintendo will sell them relatively cheaply, recognising that money is to be made through downloading?

So many thoughts and questions!

Oh! And *surely* a new Animal Crossing will appear on Switch... playable at home and on the go :toot: .

... It's not a tablet technically. It's a games console.

I know, but I could plug my android tablet into my TV and play emulators and games using a pad.

If it were anyone but Nintendo bringing this out people would be all 'meh'

I doubt that the base unit has any additional processing power.

However, that's not to say it couldn't contain additional storage capacity. It would allow them to sell bigger capacity docks, without needing to replace the entire unit.
It would also mean you could store most of, if not all of, your digital library on that, transferring things you want to take with you onto whatever internal storage the handheld unit has.

Perhaps the switch dock could have a bigger storage capacity (around 1tb but expandable) and it could hold around 128gb internally so you could have 3/4 downloaded games on the go and any extra on gamecards.

I do believe you've answered your own question, Fade. Nintendo has a wealth of popular franchises and characters that people want to see in games.

£249.99 is my guess.

Was there any special reason why this was announced today in particular? I feel like we've known about it for ages, seems a bit low-key.

Well I would if I can play Zelda or Mario on my high end tablet... Oh wait.

You literally can though

And goose, you're the only person on the forum that thinks destiny PvP is good.

How many tablets are able to play the latest Nintendo offerings?

You say as if it being made by Nintendo is not something that adds value. The fact it is being made by Nintendo of course adds massively to the announcement because of the promise of Nintendo games.

Eh? Of course it is. They're not going to release this, and then release a separate handheld.

This is it. This is Nintendo's new handheld and home console.

It's great that all Nintendo teams can focus all efforts on one system only.

Yeah. All sounds sensible. Plus SD cards for the tablet bit perhaps.

Looks like a lovely bit of kit, I hope they emphasise the local multiplayer possibilities. In the end it's all about the games though!

But Nintendo are still focusing on the 3DS as well?!

There were reports that Nvidia offered Nintendo a really good deal as Nvidia weren't in the console market to any real degree. It'll be interesting to see just how much the console will be, it certainly looks high-end.

If there's anything I'll remain sceptical about until launch day it's how Nintendo will handle storage with this.
