Will they go with a dock change which will overhaul the TV aspect or will they wait and overhaul the whole package? I'm not expecting it any time soon as it's still new hardware but what does the future hold for the Switch?
I'd like them to wait a few years then release something very similar in form to the current Switch as I think it is fantastic and does a great job of actually combining a handheld and console. If they went this route it'd just be about using better/bigger components. The most up to date Nvidia mobile chip they can bulk produce without vastly upping the cost, more/faster RAM, larger capacity battery if possible (which I guess could then mean a 1080p screen a possibility?).
The idea of an upgraded dock is interesting, could it actually work though? Does the USB C port on the Switch have the bandwidth needed (don't external GPU's need thunderbolt 3?) to make it happen or again would this be something for the 2nd gen Switch? Would be an amazing console/dock combo if you could go from playing Zelda BoTW in 720p handheld to 4K docked thanks to the upgraded dock (Zelda used as an example obviously).
I don't see them hugely upgrading the Switch anytime in the next couple of years though, maybe some minor changes but with the way it's selling I don't think they'll rush the Switch 2 to market. For once I just really hope they don't change it too much when they bring their new gen console out.
