Classics or new titles, time to get hyped regardless

Meh, they renew trademarks all the time, doesn't mean anything

As much I love F-Zero, I can't help but agree with Miyamoto when he said:

Why F-Zero? What do you want that we haven’t done before?

If they could just remaster GX for the Switch that would be great, thanks Nintendo.

Online racing, track editor, ship editor (not the crap version from GX), new tracks, new vehicles, new racers, new cups, new modes, re-modelled courses from X, etc.

You could say the same about Mario Kart, which is essentially the same game re-released over and over again. They've gradually added some of the things I've mentioned above though, and people keep buying it. Not saying I want a new F-Zero as often as the new Mario Karts come out, but there's plenty they could do with a new F-Zero.

A few months ago, there were also rumours of a new Sonic Racing game being developed by Sumo Digital. I loved Sonic Racing Transformed, so could be a great E3 for kart racing fans. A full adventure mode, especially if it can be played in co-op like Transformed, would be very welcome indeed.

GX with online and a HD lick of paint would be more than enough.

The one single thing I'd like to see a return of in a new F-Zero game is the X-Cup (random track generator) from F-Zero X that was unlocked by beating all cups on all difficulties. That thing threw up some properly mental courses, some of which killed all 29 AI racers in the first lap.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

As many have already pointed out, Shin’en Multimedia, Fast RMX are the obvious candiates to make a new F-Zero if Nintendo don’t want to do it internally. We know they have some appetite for it, as they asked Critereon to make one for the Wii U in 2011 but it didn’t work out.

As far as I’m aware they usually release a new title every year and currently don’t have anything announced, so it’s a possibility.

I'm sure I read in some interview that Shin'en said they'd rather not do F-Zero, for reasons of creative freedom/development pressure or something

You're right, 5 years ago they said this:

I guess things could have changed since then though.

Looks like a really full package, which I guess is a result of a lot of the groundwork being done in Ultra Smash, meaning they can reuse assets/the engine and add other stuff on top.

Oh, man, yeah - this looks terrific! A range of courts (dat grass :datass: ), multi-player, Online modes, story mode, normal and motion controls... brilliant!

As you say, Tom, Ultra Smash was a great-looking game but they "forgot" to include gameplay modes and this appears to have pumped it up into a proper package. "I'm excited!".
