You had 7 years to buy it on that system. It was heavily discounted for a few years. You still didn't buy it. Now they've taken it down, now you want it? Now?

Morons.

I think it's relatively likely that someone out there saw the announcement of Pikmin 3 for Switch and got inspired to go and play it on Wii U.

Nintendo removing it from the Wii U store is solely to starve the market to sell more of the Switch game when it releases.

Games being removed from digital storefronts (and storefronts themselves closing) is rubbish from a preservation perspective.

Oh I get that it is a business decision. What I find ridiculous is that's been out for 7 years. And some of these people did not bother to play it in that timeframe. It can't have been that important to them. Also you can easily track down a disc copy of it.

If you really want a digital copy then there are other ways Yarrrrr likely to get it from. I’m wondering with it being removed from the store can you still get it via Wii USB Helper as that basically downloads the games from Nintendo’s servers. It’s obviously still going to be there for those who already own it and would at some point need to download and install again.

Tell me I'm wrong, but...

Picked up Lego Marvel 2 for the kid after it was reduced. Got it for about £13 with points. Yeeesht, what a mess. It's easy to spoil yourself after playing a lot of well-made games, especially Nintendo's own. This is just mediocre.

The kid sort-of likes it, but it's so chaotic, impossible to see what you're meant to be doing, the combat's shite, interacting with stuff is a janky mess of rubbish collision detection and inconsistent controls, it's easy to get stuck in/behind scenery... it's got decent ratings and I can't quite see how/why. Marvel, I guess.

I think we'll soldier through it, but I'm hoping the story mode is relatively short.

You're not wrong, it's pretty bad early on. We pushed on with it a bit more and it does have some good points (first level I played I actually enjoyed was the Wild West one). That Vulture fight almost made me drill a hole through the cartridge.

Do people reckon a 128GB SD card is enough, or should I go for a 256GB one? Just bought Skyrim whilst it's on sale, and that's going to leave me juggling too many games on and off the Switch. I generally buy the big games at launch due to Nintendo stuff never dropping in price, but go download-only for the indie games and other stuff.

Most stuff seems to be under 3-4GB. Though I do have Splatoon 2 as a download.

128gb is fine I reckon. Remember that you can delete and download at your convenience.

The 200gb San disk is only £26 on Amazon at the moment whereas the 128gb is about £17. They regularly discount them (I got the 256gb one about a month ago for £31).

I thought I would have this problem. Turns out my games rattle around in my storage like a cat in a dustbin because there’s strawberry float all to play on Switch.

I finished Golf Story this morning. Id give it a solid 7/10.

It's got some really interesting things going on, but the promise shown in the first area of teeing off anywhere and using it to find secrets and solve puzzles, just kind of disappears on later courses. Got some annoying things which could be patched like if you're having a gooseberry fool attempt at a challenge, you Can't just quit, you have to take the amount of shots it's given you before it'll fail you and let you try again.

I think that's all fair. I'd forgotten about the challenges thing.

I also found the disc golf to be weirdly under-explored, too. I quite enjoyed that mechanic and was disappointed it was limited to a couple of very short bits of the game.

I'd probably have given it a 7+ or an 8-, and there's definitely enough there to leave me excited about Sports Story.

Yeah what was the disc golf about? I was expecting a proper tournament using that when it first appeared, but then you just end up doing some really easy one off challenges.

Never. Camelot are dead, or the staff who made great games are anyway. Think of it like Paper Mario and smile for the memories of what you had.

Someone on 4ch*n has finally managed to put together a realistic fake Direct:

Direct August 20

> opens with trailer for Super Mario All Stars 2: Super Mario 35th Anniversary Edition. 64/Sunshine/Galaxy remastered. 11/20
> Full deets not ready, butAnimal Crossing fall update is teased for October and Nintendo crossover items are back, showing off the Mario set.
> Pushmo Park (Nintendo), releasing later that day. Includes special Mario themed levels.
> Mario and Sonic 2020 (Sega) is getting a big update. New events are being added, and now you can play as any character in any event.
> Apex Legends (EA), releasing in September.
> Gnosia (DANGEN Entertainment), New IP indie game, looks like a visual novel, idk. Dec 2020.
> Bravely Default 2 (Nintendo) is now winter 2021. Special demo launches before release, progress carries over.
> The Cave of Mortar (Flashbulb Games). New IP indie game. Stylistic 2.5D platformer thing. 2021.
> Tomodachi Life: My Friend Collection (Nintendo) coming October 9.
> New Pokémon Snap (Nintendo) spotlight, coming December 4.
> Nintendo Switch Online updates: Game Boy NSO is coming September 10 with 20 games. Adding a lot of SNES/GB Mario games for anniversary.
>ChuChu Rocket Universe, launching later that day
> Liberation Front (Koei Tecmo). New IP FPS (???) set in dystopian future. Looks ugly af. 2021.
> DMC4SE (Capcom) coming 10/13
> NMH3 (Grasshopper) January 2021. The way they present this game is very funny.
> WatchDogs (Ubi) is coming to Switch later this year. The first one.
> Atlus special: Odin Sphere, Muramasa, Dragon’s Crown, and 13 Sentinels are all launching in 2021.
> PvZ3 (EA) coming in December.
> TWEWY Sequel Project now in development.
> Pokémon: Crown Tundra spotlight. November. Special retail package with game+xpac+artbook for $90.
> Sizzle reel, including Disco Elysium “later this year,” Doom Eternal 10/20, Papers Please 8:27, Fast and Furious Crossroads “Coming Soon”.
> Ends on Smash fighter pack 7, Crash Bandicoot. Sadly no mention of Crash 4 anywhere. September 2020.

Always bugs me how ridiculous the "leaks" are but this is disappointing enough to be true.

Yeah Chu Chu Rocket was great so that would be a welcome return.

If the big release for the end of the year is the Mario remasters then I think I'll be happy enough with that, but I can imagine whatever they eventually announce at the next Direct will be rage inducing for the 'Era types!
