22 mins of Windbound (obvious BotW clone) gameplay:

Obviously there are definite BotW vibes about this (particularly in the art style) but I think it looks unique enough and I'm quite intrigued to pick it up!

I don't mean it in a negative sense, there aren't many better games to copy.

The preview of Windbound in the latest OPM is really impressive for not mentioning BOTW once

I’m not sure I agree with this. I think games trying to emulate BotW, a massive sprawling game that presumably had a huge budget and was years in the making, need similar time and budget to approach the quality. They can make large empty worlds with a few outposts easily enough, but making the large empty worlds memorable, giving those outposts enough character, making the enemies enjoyable to fight, and integrating exploration mechanics that are as fun as BotW’s...

Don’t get me wrong, I think a good BotW copy would be better than most game copies! I just think it might be harder to get there. If I recall correctly we’ve already seen a couple of failures.

From the reviews I read it was performance that really let games like Decay of Logos and Pine down. Them sounding pretty unplayable is why I avoided them rather than a lack of mechanical polish - hopefully Windbound doesn't suffer the same fate

Windbound seems like it is not aiming for the same sort of scale as BotW which is promising because it is certainly the case that many games try to give you an epic world to explore and it just ends up seeming boring and half empty.

Likewise the greater emphasis on survival mechanics is something I like the look of, that BotW never drilled down on those aspects was an area that disappointed me somewhat - there was scope for something much more interesting to come from the some of the mechanics they had in play that was never realised and I'm hoping Windbound might scratch that itch!

They even copied BotW shitty performance? That's dedication to copying a game that.

We can all wish BOTW could be classed as shitty performance

It wasn't constant, but performance wise it is one of the only games I have played where it would lock up for seconds at and the framerates would run in single digits.

Still my favourite game on Switch. And there's some pretty strawberry floating stiff competition!

Mrs MD has a user profile on my switch, and has an existing nintendo account. I'm in a family group for switch online administered by a friend. There is space for more, so he has added her email address and it confirms that an email has been sent. However, nothing ever arrives. We can't figure out what's going wrong... anyone experienced similar?

Is it a hotmail/outlook address? I had my Nintendo account linked to my hotmail account, but it would never send me an email. Switched it to my gmail address, and that works fine. No idea why :?

Oddly enough this worked, so thanks!

No worries, happy to have helped.
