It's surprising just how many folk seem to get trouble with their joy-con; the "drift" issue appears to affect so many people.

It's more surprising you haven't tbh

It's happened to all four joy-cons I own, both joy-cons my girlfriend owns, one joy-con my brother owns, both joy-cons a good friend owns, and seemingly the majority of switch regulars on here.

Isn't the main cause supposed to be the stick material wearing against the sides and microscopic dust from it cocks up the interior.

It is surprising how varied people's experiences are, I've got four joy cons and have had zero stick drift issues with any of them, the original set of joy cons are 3.5 years old and are still rock solid.

Compare that to my PS4 experience where the piece of crap started drifting within weeks of buying it and even contact cleaner won't help at all now. :x

Generally it surprises me that the discussion on this seems to focus on the Switch when it appears to be a wider issue than just the Nintendo machine. Looking at Google Trends data it appears that "PS4 stick drift" search traffic matches and often exceeds that for "switch stick drift" or "joy con stick drift"

My 2 launch day joycons have drift; the left stick's reeeally bad. And the right stick on my 2nd set has a little bit of drift, but most things are still playable with it. Actually shockingly bad on Nintendo's part. Should probs send em off for repair but I got that lazy u know what I'm sayin? 8^)

My right hand joy con is starting to get a little drift again, will need to get the contact cleaner back out!

I would offer to hook up with you ( :datass: ) but I'm not sure I could hack playing it on the Switch now, as the mechanics are a little different and I'd have to remember which buttons do what again!

Oh, definitely, dude - there certainly seem to be plenty of people suffering from the issue. I wonder if it's because I play a little less than most other folk? I've plugged around 230 hours of joy-con use into Animal Crossing, but that's a fairly sedate game. For faster, more intensive games such as Rocket League and Kart 8, I use my Pro Controller.

Joy-con are too expensive for consumers to have to put up with having things go wrong with them so commonly.

Hee! It's kinda odd how you seem to have had such bad luck with your PS4, Jen. It's amazing how the user experience can vary on any console; I dang love my PS4 and have not had any probs (console or Dual Shocks)! I do use (cheap) plastic stick caps on my analogue sticks, though, as the original plastic covering does seem to wear pretty easily.

I'm in the really weird position now where even though the PS4 has given me so many problems I'm actively looking to upgrade to a PS5 for almost the sole purpose of hopefully getting to finally enjoy the PS4 games which I've struggled with! As the main conduit between player and machine it's no surprise that having a borked controller can have such a big impact on how much you enjoy things.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the one game I have really loved on my PS4 has been Bloodborne which is basically the only game I played most of before the controller started to suffer with drift!

I have minor drift in the left joycon, no problems with the right.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I'm some kind of weird outlier with my Joycons - I have pretty annoying drift on the right one, but no problems on the left.

Having finished Sakuna (buy it) and Just Shapes & Beats (maybe buy it if you like bullet hell?), I’ve picked up Puzzle Quest from the eShop and - wow! Where did my time go?

It's always a great moment when another person realises just how good Puzzle Quest is. Played and completed it on the DS and I bought it again on the Switch. I was not disappointed.

FAKE EDIT: Oh... and I'm glad that you got around to it, Balladeer!

EDIT: And it's worth guiding folk towards Jazzem's glorious tip ( :o ) from back in 2019 - change your Switch screen settings to make it better for touch-screen play!

Eventually. :slol: It leaves The Touryst as the game that’s been on my wish list for the longest time. I did play Galactrix way back on DS and enjoyed it.

I keep on thinking of picking Ring Fit up too, just worried it’ll become another Wii Fit situation  ie, use it a lot for a month or two and then rarely touch it again :shifty:

Ring Fit is fantastic, I was hugely impressed with it when I picked it up last year and I've managed to keep a pretty decent routine going with it (with a bit of a wobble over Christmas! :slol: )

It's far better than Wii Fit in my opinion, both as an exercise tool and as an entertainment experience.

yes I agree its way better than wii fit. I think the game aspect of Ring Fit is really good and for me makes it really fun to play.

I can't wait to move house so I can play Ring Fit. Our living room ceiling where we are at the moment it only a little over 6 foot and there is less than 2 metres between the sofa and TV, so it is just too impractical a space to exercise in.
