Funnily enough this happened to my friend's right joy-con over the weekend. It's pretty annoying for multiplayer!

Yeah, I've got at least one joycon where the lights don't work on the top. Supposedly it also means you can't play with the shoulder buttons with the joycon sideways but I've never tried it.

Yeah, I've got at least one joycon where the lights don't work on the top. Supposedly it also means you can't play with the shoulder buttons with the joycon sideways but I've never tried it.

You can replace the board that has the LEDs and SL/SR buttons on it really easily, I did one of mine a while back and it was quick, cheap and simple to do:

Just ordered a replacement part for my right joy con which I am hoping will solve my SL button problem, only cost a few quid so I thought it was worth a shot!

Just to follow up on this. The part arrived super quick, here it is:



I followed a guide on iFixit for how to disassemble the controller, although in reality it was all fairly straightforward as long as you have the correct bits for a mini screwdriver (Nintendo like to use those "tri" screws to prevent access to most of their stuff)

Whipped the old one out and slotted the new one in and now everything is playing nicely again! All in all it took about 15 minutes and the part was only a few quid so I'm feeling chuffed!

Yeah, the NES (Famicom) game "Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light" was ported/remade for Switch recently but it is only available for a limited time.

Not many games are launched with a message of "this game will only be available to purchase until 31 March". It's Nintendo exploiting the current "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) effect; try and get consumers to buy it NOW... "don't wait, you might miss out!".

It totally put me off getting the Mario 35th anniversary pack (well, that plus it being a pretty bare-bones release and I had already got burnt ten years earlier with the Mario 25th anniversary pack on the Wii) and the Fire Emblem game (which, by most accounts, isn't a particularly good FE game anyway).
