I quite fancy giving one of the Xenoblade games a shot. Should I get the DE or 2?

Both I reckon. You’ll need to leave a pause in between, but they’re different enough to play both in my opinion. Perhaps start with 1: it’s more widely thought of as a classic. (I prefer 2 mostly because it has actual treasure chests.)

I'd recommend starting with DE. The story in 2 doesn't continue on from 1 but I've always felt that the combat tutorials in 2 effectively skipped the basic mechanics which came from 1. Starting with DE will let you get to grips with the combat system from scratch and enjoy one of the best JRPGs ever. If you enjoy DE, then definitely pick up 2 as it's fantastic as well - I can't decide which I prefer!

Not played 1 but XC2 is a brilliant game that I would always recommend people play. Can't wait to play the first one when it comes to Switch.

They do need to release Four Swords Adventures on Switch now that Crystal Chronicles is coming so I can finally lock away the GBA-GC link cables in a museum where they belong

Man, I would strawberry floating love a new four swords. I think you'd miss out a little on the local play, but things like putting a pot on someones head could be done by simply blacking out the one screen, or going into differnt areas will one be on one switch etc.

Yeah they could do some really interesting things with it. If they wanted to replicate how the original worked, they could have one Switch on the TV with the players all using another Switch as a handheld. Pac-man vs does something similar
