I got my switch today. It's smaller than I thought it would be. I also forgot that I didn't have any free HDMI ports on my TV :fp:

It's odd, the body feels a little cheap, but the joy-cons feel really well thought out. Might be the big bezel, which isn't aging well compared to smart phones.

It seems Mario Odyssey requires you to pay with the joy-cons detached? It's a shame as I was hoping to hold as a handheld for a bit today, and just ended up holding the screen between my legs as I lounged back. Probably need to look into something to combine hdmi to my TV.

I was thinking of getting Mario Kart so I can take it to a mates and play with him in his garden sometime, but the screen seems a bit small for split screen. Suppose we might have opportunities to play on the TV at some point.

You can play Odyssey with joycons attached or with a pro controller. Just some of the short cut moves are easier on the joy cons when detached. I finished it with a pro controller and it wasn't any problem.

Wish my image sig would work

Huh, I'll have to check the controls again, I don't remember it saying there was a different way to flick the hat around in a circle or off a ledge. Good to know.

Generally if a game is ever motion control only I think it'll tell you. Otherwise you can always play handheld. I think in this case you just spin the stick and press Y

Yeah you're right. Been having a blast just now and while there's a couple of things that require you to shake the whole switch, it's still possible as a handheld which is brilliant.

The ability to pause at any point, turn off the screen for a couple of hours and then pick right back where you were in seconds is fantastic.

Bought a case on Amazon which should be here today. The offerings are pretty rubbish if you just want it as small as possible. There was an animal crossing one that was about the right size for me, but I didn't really like the design so went for a 3rd party one. It was a tenner rather than 20-25 as well, which helps. Twenty five quid for a case, bloody hell.

You still have to shake though for the fastest rolling/climbing/some transformation moves though right

The game is perfectly playable in handheld or pro controller but I do think split joycon is the best with the most options

Oh yeah true, motion controls boost some abilities I guess would be the way to look at it. I guess handheld only could be seen as hard mode lol

I’m fully expecting Nintendo announce a new Switch game within the next week or 2, Paper Mario is due out July so now we need to hear about what they plan to release in August. I am guessing it will be the much rumoured Pikmin 3 Deluxe port

Star fox, F zero, metroid or any of the mario remake would keep me happy at the direct. Bayonetta 3 update would also be nice too.

Wish my image sig would work

After replaying Odyssey with my kids lately I'm desperate to hear about these Mario remakes!

I’m assuming we won’t hear anything from Nintendo for the rest of the year.

We will, of course. I just feel like given the current year’s trajectory, combined with the fact that they ruled out a summer Direct, hoping for anything else is setting myself up for disappointment.
