Nintendoland and Xenoblade Chronicles X are the only big ones that spring to mind.

Well that's Nintendo's release schedule for the next 12 months sorted. Drop the last of the Wii U ports with a few months between each one releasing. Then the triple header of BOTW II, Odyssey sequel and Metroid Prime 4.

It felt like they wanted to make an MMO and got stuck in this halfway house where there was a big story, but half of the story beats were much weaker than the many convoluted side-plots. Also the levelling on the baddies was all over the shop.

That said the Skells were tremendous. And the music when you take off...

Liked the game quite a bit, but parts of it were really stupid. Find all these stupid things with minimal drop rates to get a Skell flight pack! Get your skell blown up in the last boss...strawberry float YOU you aren't getting it back!

It was the bloody insurance that did my head in.

"Here, drive and fly around our awesome game world in a Transformer"

"Oh, you died? Yeah, you'll need to buy a new one"

What the heck?!

Also there was no way to call up the world map on a pro controller. You had to use the gamepad to navigate.

These two Pokémon-themed versions of the Hori Split Pad Pro are arriving in November. I'm not so keen on that black/gold combo, but the Pikachu/Eevee one looks neat.

Have any of you folks tried using these before? I know that they don't have wireless, gyro or amiibo functionality, but they look to be a bit more comfortable than the standard joy-con.

Yes.

It's 1v1, players explore to find items/enemies on their bingo card which is shown on screen to make a line. It looked surprisingly fun.

Tomous wrote:Bingo Battle was in the Wii U version wasn't it? I don't think it has changed.

Wish it had online to be honest, and the coop.

Absolutely loved it on the Wii U, but I was really hoping for a couple of tweaks/balance adjustments. Bit of a disappointment if it's simply a carbon copy.

I must have played Bingo Battle for literally hundreds of hours  I remember having dreams about it :slol:.

I did this and just had a lovely 30 minutes with the Pikmin 3 demo.

He did the same joke last year of “everything I said last year applies so I’m just going to copy/paste text from last year’s review”.

I’m not sure, though. I mean, it’s not a 2/10 game, surely. That it does nothing last year’s didn’t already do doesn’t really make it a busted game, does it?

A waste of money if you own the previous games, undoubtedly, but if you don’t? Should the only option of buying FIFA on Switch be one with out of date rosters?

It’s gooseberry fool if this is the only way to get the latest squads for last year’s game. That should be a free update if nothing else changes, but swapping shelf space for FIFA 20 at full price with FIFA 21 at full price is maybe not as egregious as he thinks?

IGN wrote:If last year’s release was borderline insulting, this year’s is just plain disgraceful.

It often seems pretty rare for mainstream gaming news media to criticise the pricing of these "legacy editions" that EA chuck out, so I'm glad that IGN has been pretty vocal.

I wonder if FIFA will ever think "hang on, is this helping our brand?". Maybe the money that EA is paying them means not.

Yeah it's a weird situation. I hadn't bought a FIFA game for about 20 years but knew my son would really like it so got him FIFA 20 on Switch for Christmas last year. Yes it was a virtually identical game to FIFA 19 but what was I going to do, buy the older game instead and have it be already out of date?

This is FIFA, money is quite literally the only concern

That is a difficult situation. Two of my nephews used to regularly watch those YouTube vids where guys open loads of FIFA Ultimate Team packs - sometimes spending hundreds of pounds at a time - and, yeah, kids just won't want to play last years edition when their mates have got the latest version. The gambling and repeating the spending process each year feels a bit of a toxic mix, especially when so many children are into the game. Thankfully they've both moved on to different games now.

Of course, my main concern was that they were into playing FIFA rather than PES  .

I think the major point of contention is if you aren't going to make improvements to the game, don't release them as numbered versions. Just have one. Then bring out an update to change the rosters every year. Yes, they're being blantantly honest about this being the same game, but it gets to the point of why bother? Is it worth it to release a 21, 22, 23, 24, every single year with nothing but a roster change? Why not just one single Switch version with an update every year? Could even be released as a free DLC to give choice to the player of whether they update. Even if it was a small charge, that's got to be better than releasing the same exact game again with nothing but a roster change?

They should offer the updated stuff as paid DLC to owners of previous versions.
