There are rumours that Level-5 is shutting down it's American office and that their future games may be limited to Japan.

This would be rather a shame. I loved the Layton game series and was gifted one of their most recent releases, Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl, a few months back.

Maybe Level-5 could link up with another publisher to get their future games translated and released in the West.

I imagine there would be publishers interested in bringing some of their games over here still at least.

The dream of a new Dark Cloud seems ever more distant :(

NintendoLife has given FIFA 21 a real kicking in their review.

Apparently EA has even removed some older (cheaper) versions of past FIFA games from the eShop... presumably to stop potential gamers reading the recent reviews and deciding to purchase the cheaper option.

Of the physical edition sales of FIFA 21, only 2% have been on Switch and undoubtedly EA will further wind down future Switch versions, citing the low sales.

I still laugh at EA claiming that they have a "special relationship" with Nintendo. It's clear that they don't really want to develop games on the platform and their consistently half-hearted (or highly priced ports of older games already available far cheaper on other systems) output seems to be a way of effectively dropping Nintendo.

I guess EA wants to keep the tiniest, faintest "partnership" with Nintendo just in case - although unlikely - that there is a situation where a Nintendo platform became the dominant gaming format.

Thats the thing though, the Switch has sold very well, other developers have shown they can get current gen, demanding games on the system and EA still just think “nah, can’t be bothered with that much work”. I can understand why they stopped supporting the Wii U as that was a bit of a fail sales wise but the Switch is the opposite, how they’ve not even attempted to get one of the recent Battlefront games on there is beyond me as I dare say that would sell very well as opposed to a half hearted 3 year old game with a fresh coat of paint on it!

Technically, it's even worse than that, as the Scully within the Nintendo Life review stated. The game's built on the last gen version of FIFA 17, which hadn't seen any major updates since 15. It's a six year old game repackaged to be new. And EA know how bad that is. They know how much controversy this is causing and can see reviewers suggesting that everyone buy the previous games. That's why they've now removed them from the eShop (pages are still there, but the ability to buy is not). I was talking when this first arose through the IGN article about EA giving Switch players choice on what they do. This ain't choice. This is just backwards.

I'm pretty sure other developers want to put stuff on Switch. The Sports team just does not care, however, which justifies the upper management into not letting anyone bring stuff to it. They are becoming a bit more lenient on that last part, though, with these seven games coming along. No idea how much they've sold on Switch, but hopefully it's enough that the upper management see the real problem for previous lack of sales (if they even care).

I'm confident that Battlefront would have sold had it arrived on the Switch. Just think how many people have been buying the Aspyr ports of previous games.

Got around to setting up a second user on the Switch today, mainly to get more artwork via Redd if he has multiple genuine pieces in Animal Crossing but also to take advantage of what someone else posted in here (can’t remember who though....) about using it to play demos from the eshop on so they don’t clog up your own play history.

Also another quick question, not ready to buy/play it yet but hows Windbound? Got it on my watchlist waiting for a sale or to have nothing else to play but is it worth picking up at some point?

Posted my impressions of Windbound here t:grcade-indie-games-chat-thread?p=4688225#p4688225

tl;dr it's probably more of a survival game and less of a BOTW clone (with boats) than you were expecting from the trailers.

I stopped playing it after the second time it crashed on me and lost me over an hour's progress - unavoidable because you seemingly can't save mid-stage. Pretty bad for a survival game where you then have to spend all that time regathering materials, recrafting gear etc. just to get back to where you were.

If it weren't for the crashes I'd hesitantly recommend it only if you're a survival game fan and like the look of the sailing. With the crashes I'd say avoid, especially at full price. I think I only played it for 5 hours in the end.

I’m not against survival games but they’re not exactly my go to kind of games, shame to hear that crashes are quite common (well I’d count 2 crashes in 5 hours as quite common anyway), I did think the sailing looked good though. Might wait to see if the crashes get patched out and for a decent sale on it, thanks!

Cheers OR, I've been eyeing that for a while (in case it received a limited physical run).

Has anyone sent their joycons off to Nintendo to be fixed? Both of mine are acting the goat now. The right one is particularly bad at points.

They really dropped the ball with these controllers.

Cheers, I'll have a look. I'd rather get through Hollow Knight before I have to do this, but I'm not sure I'm going to be to do that :simper:

Is stick drift the problem? Have you tried electrical contact cleaner?

Apparently Celeste, alleged best game ever, is on offer for $4.99 on the US eShop.

Squinty: electrical contact cleaner fixes mine.

I did have stick drift on the left one, but I fixed that with cleaner. I have severe input lag on the right one, like you are talking several seconds, no change to my entertainment setup at all. It's becoming more frequent. It's been dropping inputs all over the show, and it's pretty frustrating during a boss fight. Wasn't really worried about it when I played Xenoblade, but Hollow Knight is a lot more intensive than that.

Thanks also Jawa
