Yay or Nay?

I thought I’d reply to this before I forget, I don’t think we will, the OLED only came out last October so I think they’d be hesitant to bring another update out this year, at a push we might get an upgrade on its 6th anniversary next March but honestly by that point it may as well be called Switch 2 rather than a mere upgrade. Who knows what Nintendo’s plans are though

Ideally, I’d like to see Nintendo go with an iPhone/iPad approach. Just keep making Switch but more powerful every few years.

Christopher! :o . My word! This would literally be my ultimate hardware nightmare for the gaming industry; every eighteen months there'll be a new Switch with pretty minor changes and we'll be encouraged to chuck away our old version and spend big money on the new one. A constant stream of hardware iterations with the software developers never really doing much to push the tech; just cater to the mid-point to garner as many customers as possible across the range of varying hardware specs. After just a couple of years, some models will be "too old to support".

I suspect the console manufacturers would love this. I'm going to wander away for some fresh air and pretend this thought hadn't intruded into my mind.

 .

Yay! This could be fun and I enjoyed the entries on Wii. The graphics look perhaps a little dark - a wee bit hard to distinguish? - but I hope this turned out well. A key aspect will be the script and voicing; it'll need just the right level of cheesy humour.

This is what I want as well tbh, not every 18 months  but if they went with a new console every 5/6 years that's more powerful but everything you own on Switch is backwards compatible rather than get brand new systems that you need to re-buy games on that'll be the ideal solution.

They have a great set up at the moment with the hybrid device, I just hope they stick with it this now.

I definitely want the next machine to be the Switch 2. After that though, I'm not sure. Crazy experimental Nintendo may come up with some duds here and there (RIP Wii U  ), but they're also a lot of fun.

I have no issue with Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft bringing out a console that's basically the same thing but more powerful with bonus props if it's backwards compatible as long as it's every 4 to 8 years (depending on technology advancement needs etc) if it got like apple 4 new various models every 1 to 1.5 years I'd just walk away and retro game

Yeah I think there are pros and cons to the "mobile/tablet" model and I think we would all want to avoid consoles going down a route that embraces some of those cons - devices becoming quickly obsolete, the pressure to keep upgrading more frequently than we currently do etc.

I definitely don't want to be in a situation where I'm having to buy a new Switch model every 2-3 years because the previous one has become useless or incompatible. But if they settle on a rhythm of 4+ years between upgrades and everything remains compatible across generations then I think that's a positive thing.

New Nintendo Switch

To me, a backwards compatible Switch 2, with a load extra power that can both beef up old games and allow more third party ports makes a lot of sense, and could easily give the Switch another 3-4 years. I think that's what they'll do.

After that, impossible to say really.

Because that's what the Wii U did, by having no games and therefore stopping you ever use it, you mean?

Oh, yeah, I'd deffo like the next system to be capable of running Switch games. Right now, though, I'm not looking for that next console to release for at least two or three years; I'm very happy with the existing setup and hope that it has plenty more cool games to come.

Recognising the covid / manufacturing / war situations, I don't think a new system will be appearing any time soon.

Does anyone here use one of those Pro Controller Switch screen mounts to play handheld? I'm thinking of giving one of them a go for playing handheld as even using the grip the joycons make my hands ache after a lengthy session.

I'm wondering how good they are if you use gyro aiming as well

Just purchased Immortals Fenyx Rising for switch for £10 making this another game I have double dipped on.

On top of this I decided even though it hasn't reviewed that brilliantly I wanted to buy Kings Bounty 2, mostly cause I played the original on Megadrive a lot and even reviewed it back when my capture equipment and microphone were ooooo so bad...

When I saw the box I was assuming it was going to be for a special Switch with Kirby Pre-installed.
