Love Wave Race so will be playing the hell out of this.

I also find it weird how the marketing differs in Japan though. In Japan they always have like 'three main points' about the game and show them off rather than it being a simple trailer.

How long until Nintendo acknowledges that the GCN generation is retro and starts pricing and releasing games accordingly rather than trying to bleed their customers to the maximum extent possible.

With the Wii generation, N64 games were treated as retro and we had them as part of the Virtual Console and made available for £7 (I think). That’s when the N64 was 7 years from post being their lead console. 15 years and almost 3 full console gens later on and that’s still where we’re at. Why aren’t we getting some delivery mechanism for GC titles by now. Wave Race Blue Storm would be so much more exciting than the same old N64 crap we’ve been drip fed umpteen times already.

Even while I’m typing this the idea of Nintendo not being the stingiest strawberry floating banana splits around seems utterly laughable.

I'm not sure. Seems bonkers, there's loads of GC titles that people would pay one-time fees for, or perhaps a separate or additional NSO tier. Especially some that are hard or pricey to come by these days.

I think there's a bit of a "Disney vaults" esque strategy to it, unfortunately.

And also, I reckon they're holding out so they can remaster/remake the bigger titles and sell at a higher rate. We've already had Sunshine, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker and if you believe the rumours, Metroid Prime is coming.

Yeah, i think Nintendo are defo holding GC and Wii games back to make HD remasters for the times when they need a title to fill out a gap in the release calendar. Galaxy 2 will appear at some point I’m sure.

With GameCube games I don't think it's just "stingy Nintendo wants to hold stuff back!" It feels like there's still quite an element of having to overcome the challenges that emulating that system effectively involves, especially on the relatively constrained hardware of the Switch.

We've seen how they've had issues with N64 emulation recently so it's not hard to imagine that rolling out lots of GameCube games is going to be a hard task
