Been playing Celeste. strawberry floating hell that's a punishing game. I've got the assist mode on and mapped dash to the left shoulder, and it's still kicking my ass. I definitely think I'm enjoying it, but it's definitely from the Cuphead school of 'die a lot and learn from your mistakes.'

I'm most the way through the third section out of eight. Can't even begin to imagine how tough it's going to get.

What does the assist mode actually do on Celeste - give indicators of where you need to jump etc?

It was a tricky game but once you got into it's rhythms and mastered the move set I didn't find anything too harsh, in the main game at least - some of the optional content can be devious!

Really chuffed by this. Even though I can play it now as it's sat on my XBox, I'm much more likely to play it on Switch so it's double dipping (well it's gamepass so 1.15x dipping) for me.

Looks like the kind of thing that is ideally suited to the Switch. I've never been a huge player of dungeon crawler type games but this does look nice.

I enjoyed Severed, but that was real-time. Think I’d need something more than just crawling through a dungeon to grab me, but I can see it happening.

Off topic: I got Tokyo Mirage Sessions yesterday. It seems daft but fun so far. Combined with Digimon Cyber Sleuth and Ni No Kuni, that’s three very solid JRPGs for me to be getting on with, and three that all seem like I’ll get on better with them (at this early stage) than the much-loved DQXI. :(

As far as I know it's 'just' giving me a double mid-air dash. I honestly can't think how I'd be doing some of these levels without it.

Assist mode is super configurable - you can do more than just give yourself extra dashes, if you're still struggling. That said, the game is incredibly rewarding when you persevere and get through what at first appeared impossible!

Are you gonna be ready for a Blockbuster sale? 33% off those two titles shown means the sale price will be around £33. A few other "big" titles should be included in the sale, too. Kicks off at 14:00 (UK) on Thursday.

I don't know, I want to get BOTW and MK8 again, but I'm not flush with cash.

Jawa with the breaking news ... from the last page ;)

I'd be keen for Link's Awakening to be on sale as I still haven't got round to picking that up, but not sure if there will be anything else to tempt me. Do they discount DLC regularly? There's a few things I might pick up on that front (still haven't got the BotW DLC yet... )

If money is an issue give Mario + Rabbids a try. You can get it pretty darn cheap now.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Following games being added to the NES+SNES apps on February the 19th:

-SNES-
Super Pop 'n Twinbee
Smash Tennis
-NES-
Shadow of the Ninja
Eliminator Boat Duel

A...weird selection, but don't sleep on Pop 'n Twinbee, it's a superb shmup with an obscenely cute and colourful aesthetic, something of a lost Konami treasure. Lovely OST too:

They probably should've thrown in a first party title for good measure...but I do dig how odd the choices are, going for games that have rarely if ever been rereleased. I haven't played it but I know Shadow of the Ninja is often cited as a hidden gem for the NES. The boat game also looks like it'd be hilarious in multiplayer :p

This service is absolutely brilliant. This could have been all the safe games, but no, they are giving us some deep cuts.

Now we have the best two tennis games of all time on this service.

I saw Smash Tennis and mistook it to be Super Tennis... I guess Super is already available?

For some reason I have barely even looked at the SNES / NES Online offerings. Something about it being tied to the subscription service just puts me off; which I know is a bit silly as I'm paying it anyway.

Ah, Smash Tennis was great. I remember the day i picked that up, and how it felt like such a leap over Super Tennis.
