Really getting into Shakedown: Hawaii now - managed to complete all of the shakedowns and have begun expanding my property and real estate empire ever outwards. It's a very addictive gameplay loop, and it just looks and plays so smoothly. From starting the game on the Switch home screen you can be in and running around within about 20 seconds.

Hmm. The 3D Worlds are the worst 3D Marios precisely because they took away all exploration in favour of the 2D Mario ‘style’, but a theoretical DK3DC wouldn’t have time limits and some of the levels in TF were quite explore-y anyway... Might be good I suppose.

If they were telling the truth the game would not work properly on Wii U due to the Unity Engine.

Not because of Miiverse, Matt :x

I wouldn't agree with that.

For me, moving Mario from 2D to 3D and moving away from linear platforming to exploration was not that great, Galaxy is when I got into the 3D games. I would say 3D World is one of the best Mario games.

I don’t think you can say just because it doesn’t have exploration it’s automatically worse. That’s just personal preference on your part for the different styles. Which is fine, but I think there’s a lot to be said for the 3D World style and it would really suit a DK game in my opinion.

I think 3D World is quite underrated personally, and in many ways preferred it to Odyssey thanks to its’ tighter, more refined experience. Odyssey got very repetitive and I think sometimes could be a little shallow.

Edit: Pedz knows

Meh, every time I say ‘best’ or ‘worst’ relating to games you can assume there’s an ‘in my opinion’ in there. Taste is relative. (Apart from anyone saying SM3DW is better than SMO who should have their Switch and GRcade privileges revoked immediately TBQFHWY IMVHO.)

I do think SM3DL/W felt like a step backwards though. Whether you think that’s good or bad depends on taste, but it definitely was closer to 2D Mario than previous 3D games were. Never mind the lack of exploration: levels felt more ‘blocky’ and less organic than say Galaxy, you had flagpoles and time limits, and there was less a feeling of epic scale and more of cheery head-bobbing. As a result the Wii U felt a lot like the first 3D home console without a 3D Mario to me: it had this 2.5D one instead. It’s that opportunity cost that I’ll bemoan more than anything else, but I suppose it meant we got SMO in the first year of the Switch.

The SM3Ds had more in common with the NSMBs than I cared for.

Yeah I got an email saying it was up for preorder, really don’t need it as I don’t have Smash so it’d basically just sit on a shelf.

For the upcoming FIFA 20, EA seems to have decided that the Switch is a "backwaters" console.

Nintendo Life wrote:...the Switch is getting a "Legacy Edition". That means while FIFA 20 on Switch will benefit from updated rosters and kits, it will basically be the same game as FIFA 19 and will lack any new gameplay content, such as the aforementioned Volta mode. Last year's versions of FIFA 19 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 were Legacy Editions...

Then they wonder why the versions they put onto Nintendo platforms don’t sell as well.

3rd Parties and Indies see huge sales on Switch by selling good games.

EA looks a this...

What if... what if we released a bad version of our game to save money?

*nobody buys the game*

So Nintendo have had their world championships going for the past few hours, including an hour long Mario Maker 2 Tournament followed by Splatoon 2 and Smash. Smash on just now, but you can rewind the stream to whatever you want.
