I’ve cleared the first plateau – enjoyed that and took my time it was fun exploring in a contained area (but still bloody big) getting used to the language of the game – combat, cooking, shrines, gathering, weapons that break, adapting to the elements. I really love this game. I’m just going to do loads of exploring. Open up the towers and find my own adventure at my own pace.
This brings me back to launch day of 2017. Opening it up and playing for the first time. Not a care in the world. Just exploring the plateau. I was restricted to handheld mode as I didn't want to set everything up only to have to pack it away again. In fact, I was so busy playing it, I forgot that I needed to pack everything ready to move out of my student accomodation, so when the time came the next day to leave, I was still packing when my ride arrived. Then I was back home, docked it to my TV, and the love of just exploring - now off the plateau - continued. I can't remember if I did actually say anything about it over on SONM, but I want to look and relive those first few days just from reading your own first experiences with it.
Hope to see you enjoying it throughout these next few months. And... I doubt Mario Kart Monday can be revived, but if it ever was, you'd be welcome to join.
I like stories like this. This is a very special game I wished I played with everyone else when it launched. I think this is a game I will look back on with fond memories - there are some games that are not only amazing but you just play them at the right time. I was diagnosed with PTSD and I suffer with depression and anxiety (basically a few life events had hit at once) and I'm kind of in the right head space to have a game I can lose myself exploring for a few hours when I need to in a fully realised, immersive open world survival / crafting game. The pick up and play Switch hardware lends itself so well to a game like this.
I have done nothing today other than play BOTW with my new gadget but this game has made me want to do some real life exploring. I did for a bike ride and a run though (I'm not someone that goes for a bike ride and a run) had a rest and pulled out my Switch and started playing again. When you are going through a rough patch its quite a big deal when something brings you joy and you want to ride that feeling - I'm seriously thinking of booking a small trip and this off the back of the buzz I'm feeling from enjoying exploring this game which is quite a big step for me.
But anyway this is certainly a game where the hype is very justified. I haven't been progressing the story but I have been taking on side missions when I find something interesting and broke in a couple of horses. I have been trying to open up the towers and unlocking shrines on my way. A lot of the shrines I haven't actually entered I want to open up the world properly and then fast travel to the shrines to complete them and then use the orbs for stamina so I can better traverse the world. I like the cooking and clothes crafting but I will reserve judgement on the weapons breaking. The blood moon is scary!

Anyway, just about to loud up Grid Autosport and give that a whirl.
Edit, Grid Autosport is bloody amazing! Definitely better in the performance mode rather than graphical mode, looks good in either though but 60fps is better than slightly better graphics in my opinion.
Glad you got on well with Grid Autosport. I was going to look for serious Switch racers and I don't think there are many on Switch at the moment so I'll give this one a try

EDIT: Finally dispatched!
I think Argos is quite good for sending stuff on time. From sketchy memory I think I had preordered a game and it was dispatched and I received it the day before official retail release date.
