Captain Kinopio wrote:When do we think the new Switch models are going to be released? Even with Animal Crossing getting delayed, I think the rest of this year on Switch is looking stellar, with Mario Maker, Luigis Mansion, Links Awakening and Pokemon all seemingly top quality stuff.

I want to play these on my own Switch, rather than my brothers or flat mates as I have all the previous titles I’ve wanted to play. But obviously don’t want to get burned by anything I buy now being obsolete in the next 6 months.

I think I’m leaning towards waiting, I just wish Nintendo would have said something at E3 as reporting is that they’re in production now so you have to feel they’re not far off at all.

Personally, I think we will hear about Switch mini in July with a release in September. Switch Pro I think will launch next year, late summer again, to try and push more sales before the real next gen systems launch.

Played a bit of Crypt of the Necrodancer for the first time last night. I'm not naturally good at rhythm games, but I really enjoyed it. It eases you in with the basic mechanics quite quickly, and after a while I just went along with it, not thinking too much, and more picking up on the auditory cues and working out how to take out enemies than fretting about timing.

I think try that first and take it for what it is: if it grabs you, then a Zelda themed one will be a joy. But (assuming it's the same as I haven't played Cadence) maybe don't go in to it thinking 'here's a Zelda game, let's see if I can get on with it'.

Maybe a bit like Pokemon Snap? Which was really nothing to do with Pokemon, but a cracker if you went with it.

Was after a cheap game from the sale so went with Hollow Knight after seeing everyone rave about it throughout the thread. Hopefully I get some enjoyment out of it and would make a nice change from my Switch time being spent with the Resident Evil series.

Not short at all! According to the in-game timer I've been playing for over 40 hours and I've only done the first dungeon!

Okay, so I think it might be the case that the game doesn't account for the Switch being in sleep mode when figuring out the amount of time played.

i would think it does not, unless youve been playing it for most of the last couple days

as for "how short?" my play time is 7 hours and 17 minutes

Alwa's Awakening had this exact same bug. At least in 10 days you'll get the switch time

Wait are you saying the Switch counts time in sleep mode as time spent on the game running in sleep mode?

Nah, just certain games with an in-game timer unable to determine whether the console is in sleep mode or not. The actual Switch playtime counter knows when it's in sleep, so it doesn't count unbelieveable hours played.

Looks like there’s a possibility Spyro may not require digital downloads like in the US:

Last Tuesday, as part of the Nintendo E3 Direct, Spyro Reignited Trilogy was confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch. Soon after, the game was listed on North American retailer Best Buy's website and the box art revealed that an additional download was required when buying the game physically.

Now, this is nothing new - the PS4 and Xbox One versions faced the same issue, with users only being given the first of the three included games on-disc - but things get a little more interesting when looking at the European box art.

As you can see in the comparison below, the European box - which has now been listed at retailers such as Amazon and Smyths - doesn't feature the same 'download required' warning box as the North American release. Does this mean that all three games will appear on European cartridges? It certainly seems possible.

Could be an oversight from Activision, or be on the back of the box.

Mortal Kombat EU version didn't have an notice on the box for a download, but in reality it had a 15gb one.
So take it with a pinch of salt.

To those complaining about the pricing of Cadence of Hyrule, it’s very different from Necrodancer in terms of its structure. It feels a lot like the next top down Zelda, with a cool added mechanic to it.

I thoroughly recommend it and would not be put off by the price!
