Yesterday in the Mario Maker 2 thread, jawafour wrote:...I've ordered a capacitive stylus from Amazon, too - two stylus pens with four replacement caps for £5.99.

Initial impressions:

+ Great quality (the metal finish is nice) and comfortable to hold
+ The tips are rubber with tightly-woven thread over them
+ They work well; I've tried them on both my Switch and my tablet

I think I'm all set for Makin', now :toot: .

I've been using an 8bitdo controller - the snes themed SF30 Pro, and that's a total recommend from me. A brilliant third party controller, with a proper dpad for retro games. I got it for about £35, and frankly, whilst it's not as good as the Pro controller it would probably be my second choice for most games - and first choice for retro games that need a d-pad.

Got one for Christmas along with the wireless adapter and it's my go-to pad for PC, Switch and Android stuff.

If it had analogue triggers I'd use it for everything.

They've also discontinued that version for some reason. The current Pro versions, don't have the 8BitDo SNES style logo on them and the Start/Select buttons are different. Also only in US SNES and GameBoy colours for some reason (No RGBY coloured buttons). Still a damn good pad though.

Tales of Vesperia continues to have ridiculous difficulty spikes in its boss battles. And once again, the telegraphing is not strong at all at telling you that a boss battle is coming, meaning you can get stuffed if you haven't saved right before. Actually bollocks. I've read that the game opens up massively once the skills start unlocking, but this so far is some FFXIII levels of needlessly restrictive opening act.

I decided to jump back into Ys VIII this last week to tide me over until MUA3 comes out. Slightly concerned that the combat is very similar and so I'll be doing 3rd person dungeon crawling for a long time. It's fun though with a fairly interesting set up. Not the prettiest game around, most of the character models look like PS2 standard.

Had a bit of good news last week. I’ve been accepted to write reviews for the Nintendad site.

First one is up now for Cadence of Hyrule.

I’m chuffed to bits!

Haha, Breath of the wild has soundscapes, not tunes! The sound is brilliant in it, but it’s not stuff that will stick in the mind long after you have finished it?
