The K levels are pretty brutal. The main game is not too bad, although I know some people who did struggle with it later on. I think DKC2 is probably harder.

Yeah, DKC2 was quite difficult, I think I was just taken by surprise how steep the learning curve seems to be, it's a good game and I don't want to bail on it halfway through.

I'm really tempted to order Ni No Kuni on Switch, despite having Link's Awakening arriving the same day, and being sure it'll drop in price fairly quickly.

I also have a sizable backlog. I'm playing Tales of Vesperia and have Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest Builders 2 to finish.

Plenty to keep me busy on my flights to/from Seoul and Tokyo next month!

Played that Dragon Quest XI demo up until they jump off the cliff. Really liked it. A JRPG with all the old guff taken out of it. The lack of loading between battles and overworld is strawberry floating brilliant.

It's good to hear that, Squinty. I've held off from Astral, Daemon and Link's Awakening because I'd prefer to give DQXI a go. I've not tried the demo and I'm going to leap straight into the full game.

I noticed that, whilst the game is £26.99 (download) on Switch, it's £15.99 (download) on PS4. Not a sale price; both are just the normal prices that have been in place since launch. We're gonna need to dig out the Switch Tax flags for a pricing case as extreme as this.

I've decided to hold off on NNK for now, because it feels like an ideal Christmas game. I'm looking forward to having it to play in December with my family 'round a fire.

Hi. Sorry bunch of questions

1. I'm not sure I quite understand the Snes online. So is there an option of just buying the Snes games and owning the download like you can on Wii U or do you have to be a subscription paying member of Nintendo Online to play snes games on Switch.

If it has to be the Nintendo Switch online - I will be able to access all Snes games available with one off Nintendo Switch Online 12 month card for £15 for the year and there's no other payments? Is there any disadvantages to this?

2. I've asked this question on the Ori thread too - wasn't sure the best place to ask. Does anyone have any idea how much Ori and Blind Forest will cost on Switch? I was hoping it would priced about the same as current price on X Box One (under £20) I wouldn't fancy paying the price of main new release (above £50) as I already own it.
2.5. As x box games on Nintendo Switch are a thing - does anyone think the Switch will get Rare Replay

3. With the Nintendo Lite I'm aware you can only play in Handheld mode but is there any noticeable difference in the quality of sound, graphics, framerate or anything else that would lower the experience of playing the games in handheld on Lite over an original Switch (other than screen size)

4. How has everyone got on with battery life in handheld mode - I'm looking at the original Switch as they have a bundle I'm interested in (rather than the new one's with better battery life) - google says the old ones are between 2.5 and 65 hours. 2.5 is a bit on the low side but I would be happy with 4.5 hours

Thank you

When I had an old switch I thought the battery life was shite, on something like a long haul flight it's pretty pathetic.

Pretty sure everything is the same on the lite minus the smallet screen.

I’ll try and give a few answers, probably not comprehensive but better than nothing right?

1 - When you activate a Switch online membership you can download a NES app and a SNES app that has the various games they’re currently allowing users to access as a bonus to paying for online. You can only access them if you have a current online membership active. No other payments for being able to access the NES/SNES games and online other than the one off fee, which depending how you pay may automatically renew after a year (or I guess just end if you’ve got a code? I’ve bought a year via the eshop so not sure on this).

2 - Like yourself I’m eager to see how much Ori costs, I’ve seen around $20 stated but waiting for it to appear on the eshop for a definite price. As for Rare Replay I really wouldn’t like to say, I’d love for it to come to the Switch but equally I wouldn’t be surprised if it stayed solely on the Xbox One.

3 & 4 - As far as I’m aware there will be very few differences playing on a Switch Lite to a normal Switch undocked, except that the battery life is better. With the old ones I find it varies wildly depending on the game, whether its in airplane mode or not and how bright you have your screen. Think the longest I’ve got playing Breath of The Wild undocked is about 3 hours, but that was with airplane mode on, screen brightness just off minimum etc.

Hope that helps, somewhat anyway!

Thank you Robbo-92. Regarding point 4 I didn't realise battery life was dependant on the game but that makes sense.

So can you play in undocked mode plugged into the main and it does it charge whilst you are playing like the Wii U?

I heard there was something of a backlash and people complain about Switch online but if it's a one off payment of £15 for the year and you get to play a library of nes and snes games that seems quite good to me. Is there some catch I'm not seeing?

Originally it was just NES games. Seeing as a lot of long-term Nintendo fans had played all the NES games they wanted to play on Virtual Consoles on the Wii or Wii U, this was felt to be a somewhat underwhelming offering.

SNES games have definitely been a big plus, but have the same problem to an extent.

Yeah if you don’t have your cable into the dock you can use it just as a normal charging cable, allowing you to play undocked while changing.

As Karl said though, the slightly revised Switch which has recently released has a superior battery life to the old Switch and the Switch Lite, so if battery life is one of your main concerns this might be the best model for you?
