Oh wow, that’s a big claim. I mean it’s excellent, buuuuuuut I’d say there are two games with daylight between them and Celeste, and two others that would be likewise if they weren’t ports/upgrades.

Celeste is a bloody splendid game, but it’s not without its flaws. I wasn’t so keen on levels 4 and 5 due to some of the mechanics, and it simultaneously likes to encourage level exploration and then gate you off after you pass certain points.

It’s definitely the best indie game I’ve ever played though. The other four I mentioned are all Nintendo, and so come with bigger budgets, greater talent pools, and a better understanding of the hardware. Celeste really is a little gem.

Bought Night in The Woods, probably won’t try it till I’ve beaten Celeste (which I’ve not actually played in the past few days) but thought I may as well take advantage of the offer rather than waiting for it to go back up to full price. Next eshop game I’ll be waiting for a sale on is Gris.

AHHHH. What did you think? I finished it at the weekend. Left the Co-op campaign until last. Melted my head in the last few levels.

I loved it as well. Really surprised me how long the game was.

Since we seem to be on ‘what are we playing on Switch’, I’m playing Wandersong. It’s very cute, but I have to admit that the bard’s design, almost Terence & Philip in its style, leaves me a bit cold. Also I’m not sure that games with no ‘lose condition’ give me the ‘hit’ of whatever it is I seek from games.

Still: very cute. Bard x Rainbow Girl OTP.

I'm mostly still playing Gems of War, well over 30 hours in now. It's still solid Puzzle Quest mechanics and I've still not spent any money on it.

I also picked up Horizon Chase Turbo last week and I've got mixed feelings on it. It's pretty smooth and quick and there seems like a decent amount of content. Races don't hang around too long and the challenge isn't too onerous. But it plays a bit like this -

The connection of the car to the road just seems missing. I know it's aping that Outrun style but it just doesn't feel quite right to me.

I've also just picked up Bastion in the sale because I don't have enough things to play already. :fp:

It’s brilliant isn’t it! The tutorial is so good. Explains all the gooseberry fool I’ve been reading about for years and never fully understood, frame traps, advantages etc.

I’m happy with how it runs too. People on twitter saying it looks gooseberry fool, but I think it looks brilliant.

I just need to try and step away from maiming Scorpion as everyone seems to be using him. I always fall into the same trap with fighting games, of picking one obvious character and being scared to venture out and try anyone else.

I'm still playing Breath of the Wild, I finished the story, the DLC and the shrines, I am now just trying to get the Hero gear. I kinda don't want the game to ever end. But soon I will have done everything for the first time in a game since Ocarina of Time.
