That's not a growth wrote:I'm pretty out of the loop, has there been any recent traction on the rumours of a more powerful switch being in the works? There's getting to be quite a few good games, with all these announcements. Not that I have time to enjoy what I already have, mind....

Never say never but nothing official as of yet, rumours seem to point to a handheld only Switch rather than a more powerful Switch though.

Hmmmmmmm.

I was a little disappointed by the second year. The first year was great and today's presentation was very good, though!

After todays direct the rest of this year is looking really strong, as is early next year with Animal Crossing being released in March :toot:

Nintendo seem to have put a lot of games up for pre order on their site, Sword and Shield double pack is £100.... still far too tempted by that.

I’ll add my current ‘to buy’ list at some point, I’m still currently rewriting it!

Not sounding too bad for the performance of The Witcher 3 on Switch :)

Caught up with the whole direct this morning (in Chicago) and my thoughts/purchasing intentions as follows

No interest whatsoever in Smash or it's DLC
Luigi's Mansion 3 looks like a day one
Link's Awakening looks lovely but I might still not buy it as I don't have the nostalgic connection to it having missed it on the GB and never owning a GBC. My son is playing it a lot on DS though so maybe for him.
Dragon Quest XI is a definite purchase. Hoping it gets added to the 2 for £84 as I've got one left over after pre-ordering MUA3. If not that then Luigi gets it.
MUA3 Liking the direction they've taken with the art style and really liked the first two so I'm already considering the season pass
Witcher 3 Already own the whole thing on PS4 and have played about 60% of it. But still likely to pick it up on Switch as a) it's incredible and b) I'm never going to play any more of it on PS4 and Switch gives me more chance of actually finishing it.
Astral Chain looks slightly more interesting that Daemon X Machina but only slightly so I'll pass on both.
Ni No Kuni - was going to be day one but releasing a week before DQ XI means it might have to wait for a sale.
Pokemon - I've tried to get into Pokemon games in the past but they've never really clicked with me. I'd probably be wasting my money. Maybe one for the kids for Christmas.
That game from Romero looked interesting but I'll wait for reviews.
BOTW2 - My son would never talk to me again if I didn't buy it so day 1 (I liked it as well).

Anything else I wasn't really interested in.

So my schedule at the moment looks like MUA3 in July, DQ XI in September (and Ni No Kuni if I'm weak) and then Witcher 3 whenever. But I really want something new and/or interesting to play once I finish Box Boy. So I can either clear out some of my backlog a little (sensible option), buy something light and airy ahead of all those RPGs, say Katamari or Baba is You (slightly less sensible option) or buy Last Remnant (stupid option).

I have no nostalgic interest in Link’s Awakening either (and bounced off it on VC), but it looks like the dog’s sensitive bits anyway.

Wait, if you haven't played Link's Awakening, why the hell wouldn't you get it?! It's an incredible game, while the rest of us are enjoying the nostalgic warm glow you'll be going in from the enviable position of it being a new experience for you.

I agree but there is an absolute deluge of stuff out at around the same time. In it's favour, it'll probably never get any cheaper than release so there really is no point in holding off for a sale. I'm on the fence.

Going on from my Link's Awakening hot take, I'm going to drop an even bigger bombshell. That Panzer Dragoon bit did absolutely nothing for me at all.

Yes but none of the other stuff around the same time is going to be one of the GOAT ;)

But you're right, there release schedule for the next 4-5 months is ridiculous.

Honestly my list for what I fancy buying over the next few months (well roughly up to April 2020) is pretty stacked for me,

- Bloodstained Ritual of The Night - backed, now wishing I hadn’t as I really don’t think I’ll play much of it but can’t do much at this point except maybe selling it when it arrives.
- Cadance of Hyrule - out tomorrow, really tempted to get it day one but may wait for reviews.
- Grid Autosport - meant to be out July? Seen nothing about it at E3 so far, will only get it if its a solid port as the Switch is in dire need of a more sim oriented racing game.
- WRC 8 - out early September (8th rings a bell), loving watching rally at the moment and with the lack of DiRT Rally on the Switch this should be a solid compromise, looks promising so far though.
- The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening - out 20/09/19, never played it before so I’m there day one.
- The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - again a game I’m yet to experience, so I’ll probably be there day one.
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 - after the initial reveal I was slightly sceptical, the treehouse footage has me 100% sold though.
- Doom Eternal - loved Doom, this looks more of the same which will be no bad thing.
- Pokémon Sword/Shield - I’ll be there day one, just need to try and talk myself out of the double pack
- Yooka Laylee and The Impossible Lair - enjoyed the first YL game, this looks really good from the small amount we’ve seen though.
- Hollow Knight Silksong - I still need to finish Hollow Knight but Silksong is tempting me regardless.
- Animal Crossing New Horizons - obviously a while off as its releasing in March 2020, not much more to say about this one.
- Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga - been a while since I’ve played a Lego game and I loved the complete saga beforehand.

Main problem being I have no where near enough free time to do all of these justice over the next 9 months :dread:

Full list here, it's quite impressive by Nintendo standards!

But not as good as the US one. Hoping for more things getting added tomorrow (Katamari would be nice, as would Baba is You).

Give me an idiot's guide to shopping in the US store for a moron with a PayPal account.

Also, is having a balance on my UK account and gold points going to be a problem?

They're gonna have to do some wizardry with the UI if that's the case, some of the stats and menus are barely legible on a 4K TV as it is.

I've not done it using PayPal myself but the steps should be:

Go to https://accounts.nintendo.com/profile/edit and set your region to US

Open the eShop - it will need you to log in again as your region has changed.

Find and purchase the game you want!

Snags: Gold points you earn will be locked to the region of purchase, any points form the UK can only be redeemed on the UK eShop etc. Some regions are funny about purchase methods - the US will ask for zip codes to work out sales tax, some places don't like certain types of cards etc. Oh and some regions won't display in English - so navigating the store can be a challenge!

It may seem daunting but it is worth the savings IMO and once you've done it a couple of times it's very quick!
