I have owned mine for 2 years now, and I finally feel like I'm starting to love it. I think it's the wealth of VNs that are releasing on it.

Visual Novels. Which by my non-militant definition includes Phoenix Wright, Danganronpa, Zero Escape Series etc. Some would say only those with no gamification (Steins Gate etc) qualify.

Ah! Ta, dude. I don't think I've played too many of them although I enjoyed Phoenix Wright on the DS... and maybe Night in the Woods - a superb game! - would count as one.

Also where the bugger is Ace Attorney 7?

Oh wait, I forgot that Capcom’s too busy porting everything.

I won't keep going on about it but I have never felt so spoilt for games. Getting a Switch is worth it just for playing eshop indie games in undocked mode in my opinion. Let alone all the great big first party and third party exclusives on Switch and all the Wii U ports

I wasn't really a big gamer I owned a PS4 and would play the big AAA games like Assassins Creed, Last of Us, RDR and Unchartered. It took me nearly a year to see the credit roll on RDR2 but the lovely thing about the Switch because of undocked mode I get to actually finish games - every game I've played is game of the year material I've finished Goose, Ori, GRIS nearly finshed Zelda LA and am playing through Zelda BOTW and I experimented with a bunch of others - I havent played it beyond the first few kingdoms (and won't for a while because I want to get into BOTW first) but I really believe Mario Odyssey will be my favourite game of all time. My PS4 broke just before I purchased my Switch and I'm not going to bother with Playstation until the next gen - there's probably 50 big games and then all the indies I want to play.

As someone that was never that into video games and never played for long periods of time - I really had to be my parent with the Switch, I could play it all day if I let myself and would smile every second. I love the Switch its just been complete bringer of joy and I'm very grateful to this forum for giving me a gentle push to get one

TLDR yeah I would recommend getting one.

I must warn you though if you read this thread, the eshop / indie thread you will end up spending money ;)

This is a very misleading thing to say considering only Phoenix Wright is currently on the Switch :slol:

And Steins Gate.... Elite

But i was just giving examples of the franchise. I assumed Jawa wouldn't try to run out and purchase them all. And if he did - sorry Jawa, but its probably for the best you couldn't with your history :D

Would it be worth getting a Wii U at this point?

I won't be getting one any time soon - but I'm sort of half considering it one day. I haven't looked into the Wii U library but the main games that I would like to play that don't have a Switch port yet are Mario 3d Land, Starfox and Pikmin. I know Starfox wasn't well received - but I love Starfox games and on-the-rails space shooter with cartoon pilots is definitely my kind of thing and I don't really think there are any non-Nintendo equivalents for this - plus if the complaint with the controls is that it is too unforgiving with too much of a skill curve and flight simulator-y that might not be a bad thing and the game does look gorgeous. Does anyone think they will do anything with Starfox (either new or just a port) on Switch. Similarly do you think we will ever get 3D Land or do you think now the Switch has a good library they are done porting Wii U games over to the Switch.

I know the horse has darted now, but I do feel a little bad for not supporting the Wii U now I am enjoying the Switch so much

There's still a chance Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3 will get ported. I think 3D World depends on when Odyssey 2 will release-if it's not next year I could see them doing a 3D World port (NST would make sense as they did Captain Toad) to fill the gap. Pikmin 3 has been heavily rumored by insiders on ResetEra but they have a hit and miss record. If Pikmin 4 isn't coming on Switch a port would make sense but it's hard to tell if 4 is coming or not with Miyamaoto's mixed messages.

Starfox will never be ported thanks to the control scheme and I wouldn't be surprised to see the franchise miss this generation. It's not a huge seller and the last entry was neither a commercial or a critical hit.

To be clear with Pikmin I don't specifically want to play the Wii U one I just want to play a home console Pikmin game I haven't played before - if we was to get a new Switch one that would be even better

Get Starlink! It's a great game and the price has dropped massively - and on Switch you can play the entire thing as if it's a Starfox game.

A Wii U is good to have as a one-stop-shop for Wii U/Wii/Gamecube games, so if you can get one for cheap then they're crazy useful.

+1 for this, it's a nice way of filling the Starfox gap and goes in the direction the franchise should have awhile ago.

That's not a question. And it does if you softmod it. You can play GameCube games via nintendont.
