Picked up a Hori Pikachu joycon for my son's birthday as he loves Pokemon (despite never actually really playing it!)

How good is the D-pad on these things?

D-lightful

Seriously maybe not Nintendo standard as they’re a bit softer but still very very good, so much nicer than the 4 button setup

There is a rumour going round that Metro Redux will soon appear on Switch; the source being a Spanish games retailer. It could be cool to have this double-pack on the system!

If I remember that was quite an early PS4 title that was a dam good remaster, a great couple of games to boot.

Who's getting The Witcher? Absolutely love the game and would recommend it for first time players, but for people like me double or triple dipping I see no real point unless they price it competitively i.e. £20. Obviously no chance of that!

I've already got it on PS4 with one DLC pack, but I want it again on Switch because of the portability, the Blood and wine DLC and probably this time I'll actually complete the full game.

Been playing that free Asphalt game, and whilst it's chock a block full of microtransactions it's an absolute blast.

I’m getting The Witcher 3, can’t wait to finally play it as well! Should be in for a treat! How longs a standard play through of the main game and DLC?

I would say around 150 hours. I have only finished the main game and that was about 110 hours.

Would love to revisit it on Switch, but realistically i cannot possibly justify playing through the main quest again. But would possibly my platform of choice assuming load times etc are acceptable.

The odd thing is i would never actually play the game (or any switch games) away from home. I simply play them handheld with something on the TV (youtube etc). I don't even usually continue playing when my wife gets home from work etc. So why don't i just play whatever game on the tv and listen to a podcast or something using Spotify instead of this daft way of doing things?

Does anyone else find themselves doing this? When i went away for a few days the other week i didn't even take my Switch. I took my iPad with some Apple Arcade games installed.

I do use my Switch portably, but yes most of my Switch time is me sat on the sofa with the TV on in the background. Handheld gaming is just better!

Witcher III is incredible, probably my game of the generation. I'm really hoping they do a good job of the port because it would be a real shame if people didn't get to experience the game properly!

I probably put about 200 hours in across the main game and both DLC packs, there is just so much to it.

Why though? Is it more immersive? More intimate? I can't work out why I am paying more for inferior versions of games in many situations simply so I can play it with something else on the TV in the background.

I play portable far more than I do docked. I really like the flexibility of it - being able to play wherever I am, even if it's just moving between rooms in the house. I play an awful lot of Switch in bed at night as well!

Both I think. When handheld there is less separation between myself and the game. If I move the screen moves with me, and the whole interaction is more tactile in a way. I think that immersive state of focus is easier achieved with close proximity, like I wouldn't read a book on a projector against a wall, even if the text is perfectly readable.
