I’m yet to try any form of VR so if VR actually came to the Switch I’d probably give it a go just to see what its like. I wonder what first party titles the article could be referring to though?

About that... the short answer is, 'No.' The long answer is, 'No, and nor is the juddery-as-heck in-battle frame rate, and apparently there is a fast-forward option but it's not implemented very well.' Honestly it seems to be the definition of a 'lazy port'. People further up the thread seem to be correct: not really worth £17, not in this day and age.

I'm still going to press on: the characters and story are good (apart from Zidane), even if the dungeons are even worse than normal.

I like the idea of surprise games being announced in the direct and insta-released... but with Final Fantasy IX it does seem that the port has had a bare minimum of effort. Kotaku report that the Switch version is the same as the mediocre PC and PS4 ports, which themselves were based on the mobile version, and it is complete with the same issues.

Edit: Oops, just realised that Balla had already included the Kotaku link. Never mind!

A game update is available for Dead Cells, with the "Pimp My Run" pack adding a raft of enhancements and bringing 60 FPS performance to the Switch version.

That is really unfortunate. I'm a bit wary now of it, would have loved to play through it again. Just to see if it holds up. Thanks to you and Jawa!

I started playing Axiom Verge, not bad, a bit confusing at times.

Hey guys.
Can anyone help me out... though I'm sure there's no right answer.

My son wants a switch for his birthday. With Let's Go Pikachu.
Now, his Birthday is in November, so aaaages away yet.

My question is, should I buy a copy of Let's Go sooner rather than later? Or will it be OK to wait until November?
Will it be like lots of other Nintendo games where they seemingly run out of print and are impossible to get hold of new?

Well, it's a hugely popular game and I'd think you'd be okay to wait until nearer November, Lewis - you'd maybe get it for a few pounds cheaper than buying it now. If you'd rather be a little more cautious, there's probably no harm in at least waiting until the summer.

jawafour wrote:I downloaded Iron Crypticle this evening; I was drawn to it by the Robotron / Gauntlet vibe. It's a twin-stick shooter, slightly old-school and slow-paced but a lot of fun. I think the levels are randomly generated.

It's a game style that I haven't played for years and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about the game, it was reviewed by Nintendo Life earlier today.

Just played a bit more and it's great fun. It feels old-school but in a good way; simple, slick and addictive. I'm playing in portable mode and the colouring can - for me - be a little dark but thankfully the "shoot everything that moves" approach is seeing me through okay on this front! It has some good music, too.

I beat the first boss in a run just now and I stumbled across a mini game in which you run and jump in a sideways-scrolling 2D platformer towards an exit whilst being chased. It made for a cool intermission.

I'd read/watched a few reviews and thought this could be my bag... it is :D .

We are only a few weeks away from the end of Year 2 of Switch and the start of Year 3, can’t believe how quick the time has gone really! How is everyone feeling about the Switch now and how do you feel the future looks for the system?

Switch has fast become my most used system, the ability to just play full fleged home console games wherever I want, no longer confined to a TV is more important to me than I expected it to be. I hope Nintendo stick with this format going forward for the next gen (seems so as they have a long term deal with Nvidia) it’s also got me to see just how great and varied the Indie side of games can be, i’ve played some really great, unique games that I probably would never have tried.

All in all it’s close to becoming my Number 1 Nintendo system (just need to get some of the classic Ninty games onto it now to cement it as number 1) and I am very much looking forward to the future for this little device.

The first year of it I was loving it, and this second year I have loved it too. I don't expect anyone else to have tracked playtime and such the way I have, but I suspect there to be a lot more playtime in year two than one. We'll see, come 3-March, which is when I plan to put the new thread out as this one's nearing 250 pages.

As for the future, I suspect it might not evolve in a UI and feature-base way more than some would like, but the games are certainly going to be the number one thing the system continues to be known for.

+ The dual-play (TV and portable) function is terrific
+ Great range of games
+ ...including some genuine classics
+ Fast, slick system software
+ Nice hardware (screen, joy-con and Pro Controller)
- ...except for the very basic dock
- I know I'm in the minority but, to me, the console doesn't feel as "Nintendo-y" as previous consoles; no friend messaging, no channels, no Miiverse, no themes, no folders, few jingles... it's bare-bones and quite dull. I'm surprised that no improvements have been made since launch

Don't get me wrong, I really like the system overall and I thoroughly enjoy using it. But I don't know if, two years post launch, Nintendo are going to do anything about the basic system features. Sure, the system software is slick... I would just like it to be a bit more fun :-) .

I'm not planning to, Fisher. I think the next Switch game that I'd like to try could be Dragon's Dogma.

Imran Khan, senior editor at Game Informer, has been dropping some interesting comments regarding Nintendo Switch on the GI podcast the last couple of weeks...

a cancelled game project (one that was announced publicly)is being revived for Switch

Now, upon hearing this one, 3 games popped into my head

Silent Hills
Mega Man Legends 3
Scalebound

I think Silent Hills has a 0% chance of coming back so I doubt its that. Capcom have been big on Mega Man releases the last couple of years, could it be they are going to bring back the long dead 3DS MML3 game? The last one I thought was Scalebound, Platinum seem to be big fans of Switch so this could happen. From what I gather though, Microsoft own the actual assets etc.. for Scalebound so that could potentially rule it out right? Well, this week on the podcast had another interesting tidbit of information.....

Phil Spencer has been meeting with Nintendo, as a third party

Now this one is really interesting, we already have Minecraft on Switch, we also had all the Xbox Live features coming to Switch chat the other week. We know that Microsoft seem quite open about where people play Xbox game, they don’t seem to be closed on the idea of games appearing in other formats. Could Phil be meeting with Nintendo to get certain games onto Switch? Imagine Rare Replay launching on Switch!

Imran is a respected Journalist and works within the industry so this isn’t just some random insider on a message board. I would love stuff like Ori or Cuphead coming to Switch (I would not expect stuff like Halo or Gears)

Thoughts?
