Something along the lines of leaving your switch on to play a mammoth 48 track grand prix by itself so you rack up tons of coins.

No idea, never heard of it before, surely you wouldn’t actually get many coins if you don’t race though?

If you turn on assisted steering and auto-driving then it plays itself and will collect coins

Wait really?

I mean, it won't play /well/, but yes it does the minimum. It'll just keep driving forwards and steer enough to stay on the track. It won't drift or use items or even steer into coins, but it should pick some up just by chance.

Yeah it will certainly nab you a few coins playing this way. When the kids are playing I stick auto drive and steering assist on for them and even if they did nothing it would still complete the course and pick up the odd coin.

Not sure how much use it would be though as you couldn't just set it going and leave it alone all day as you would still need to interact with the game between tracks and whatnot?

Got the Child of Light and Valiant Hearts switch bundle from Argos the other day.
Tried Child of Light and it's beautiful, surprised Ubisoft hasn't made a sequel.

To be honest, it's probably easier to go two player no CPU or solo it with only coins available so that you absolutely don't get hit by items and lose some at the last second.

This was going to be my original plan, 200cc, mushrooms only (get coins as well anyway) and baby park on repeat :)

I wonder if 4 will come later down the line perhaps?

I’ll grab this tho as I barely played it when it originally released

are you looking forward to get golden kart.

I’m waiting to unlock the pipe frame, nearing 2000 coins now (spent a good few hours on it today) and still not unlocked it, I’ve never been a fan of the golden items really.

how many karts parts did you unlock in mario kart 7 3ds.

I unlocked everything in Mario Kart 7.

awesome.

I’m still hoping we get more third party stuff this year, entering the third year of Switch’s cycle, this will have given the devs who only started developing for Switch in its first year around 2 years of dev time for projects. We are already getting MK 11, Doom Eternal and Crash Team Racing with rumours of Biomutant hitting Switch as well.

I personally would like to see some old stuff come over as well, stuff like the Arkham games, Tomb Raider reboot series and even obscure stuff Shadows of the Damned.

Well I’d like to think the Switch has certainly proved successful enough over its first 2 years on sale for third parties to look at it and see if its worth releasing games on it or not. I’m glad Bethesda are being pretty supportive of the Switch, as are Ubisoft. While the first/second party content still makes up the majority of my gaming time on the Switch there’s still a fewe series I’d like to see come to the Switch (even if I wouldn’t necessarily purchase all of them).

I guess a big part of it still comes down to how many compromises they want to/need to make to get a game thats launching on the PS4/Xbox One to run nicely on the Switch. It’ll be very interesting to see how Doom Eternal on Switch stands up against the PS4 and Xbox One versions when it releases.

I was really expecting lots of PS3/X360 era titles to start coming over as well as current gen titles, stuff like

Dishonoured 1 & 2
Tomb Raider reboot trilogy
Batman Arkham Trilogy

Should (hopefully) be coming over.

Regards to Doom Eternal, apparently it's being developed with the Switch in mind so it should run/look great on Switch

I’m all for more ports of games that haven’t appeared on a Nintendo system before (or in the recent past anyway), no reasons why any of the titles you mentioned shouldn’t be able to run on the Switch (although I guess maybe the latest Tomb Raider might be the trickiest to port as that was PS4/Xbox One only wasn’t it?) with some compromises here and there.

I’d be happy with Doom Eternal if it looked like Doom (on the latest patch) and ran at a solid 30fps, I can’t compare it to the other versions of Doom but I think it looks pretty good. We should get at least this as well considering its Panic Button who’s doing the work for the Switch version, really hoping it launches the same day as the other versions as well.

Picked up Valkyria Chronicles from the eShop, at £7.99 it seems rude not to. Gonna give it a replay before finally getting around to play 4. It's really weird they decided to put, rather sizeably, 'for Nintendo Switch' on the Switch icon. I think I might pick up Phantasy Star before the sale ends. I wish it was IV, but hopefully they're working their way up to that.

I started Cosmic Star Heroine recently, something very much aimed at me, and it hit all the marks. Reminds me a lot of Chrono Trigger, with more of a consistent (Phantasy Star-like) setting. The set-piece with the giant robot, where you need to scale the building, tackling it on multiple levels, was cool. It's got a nice breathless pace too. Hopefully it manages to maintain the momentum.
