Mega Man.... Rare Replay.

There's always the obvious big title that was revealed and cancelled between Nintendo and Microsoft. Which would be Goldeneye.

EDIT: I've been saying for a while that I've been getting a good vibe from Nintendo and MS for the past year or so and that I could see them doing stuff together. Especially with Cross-play and Xbox Live on certain Switch titles.

Goldeneye is the obvious title to really ram that home.

Unfortunately, that title involves more companies than Nintendo and Microsoft.

All they need is the Bond licence at this point. Which as far as I can tell no-one currently holds and would be available from Danjaq who own Bond in general.

EDIT: The remake was also pretty much done when Nintendo pulled the plug on it originally I believe.

EDIT: EDIT: Apparently there was a financial disagreement between MS, Nintendo and Activision (Who had the Bond licence at the time). But that's according to Wikipedia, so pinch of salt as always.

Phil Spencer’s approach to games coupled with Nintendo’s relaxed ease of being able to work goes hand in hand. It would be great to see the likes of Rare appearing on a Nintendo system once again (Switch version of Sea of Thieves anyone?)

Fortunately not something you need to worry about these days, as it’ll be available to download via the eshop eternally. The print copy won’t be cheaper, so I’d wait until you find a good Switch deal, and then buy it digitally for his Switch.

If the Bond licence isn't in purgatory, then we really do just need some jolly co-operation between Nintendo and Microsoft. Fingers crossed :toot:

Would be a real coup for Nintendo and Microsoft if they could actually get Goldeneye (whether the original or remastered) on both systems with online, cross platform multiplayer.

I know we've moved on, but I don't actually care about GoldenEye and

ITSMILNER wrote:We are only a few weeks away from the end of Year 2 of Switch and the start of Year 3, can’t believe how quick the time has gone really! How is everyone feeling about the Switch now and how do you feel the future looks for the system?

I would like to answer this question, sorry. It ties directly into my signature, after all!

I am feeling really really good about the Switch. Granted, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, and I was still hopeful about the Wii U at this stage. But I feel good about the Switch.

Looking at years 1 and 2, year 1 was the superstar year and year 2 was the dry year, no question. Year 1 had SMO and BotW, as well as Xenoblade 2 and Spla2n, and Rabbids and ARMS if you wanted something a bit different. Frankly those first two games would have been enough to make it Best Launch Year I Can Think Of: the rest, XC2 in particular, were icing on a very special cake. (Also Celeste.) Year 2, meanwhile, had to coast by on the eShop for a good time. Hollow Knight was a belter, but it took until the end of the year for the machine to throw up another system-seller. Spin-off Pokémon, magic BR Tetris, and Smash isn't bad for a dry year, all told.

Year 3 looks like it could be another stunner. I don't think Link's Awakening, Pokémon 8, Astral Chain etc. will be as good as SMO and BotW, but we went almost two decades without seeing games as good as SMO and BotW (in my opinion the last game that had the same impact at the time was OoT, I know some will say Galaxy as well) so that's no big shame. It does look much more full of good-to-great exclusive offerings than year 2, which is exactly what I expected and why my sig. says what it does.

As for the machine itself, I agree with Jawa. Almost entirely. The dual-play (TV and portable) function is terrific - check. Great range of games including some genuine classics - check. Console doesn't feel as "Nintendo-y" as previous consoles - check. As it stands it's my favourite Nintendo console due to its available games, but that doesn't mean it's my favourite machine: I prefer the 3DS (themes, free online, 3D gimmick that I loved don't @ me) and Gamecube (holding down the Z button to make the cube squeak - there's nothing that magical here). I don't see either point changing in year 3.

Anyway yes I'm done sorry. Also I would like the cancelled project to be Project H.A.M.M.E.R.

You say that but the physical copy is £39.85 at ShopTo, £43.85 for a digital download from ShopTo and £49.99 from the Eshop.

It's the one reason pretty much my entire Switch library is physical. It's so rare that the digital version is the cheapest option :slol:

It would make business sense for Rare Replay to be released on the Switch - considering its a mammoth bundle featuring some absolutely outstanding classic games, it deserved a wider audience, and would certainly be popular with many older Switch owners.

Goldeneye too would probably sell well but I'm not sure how much of a new audience it would find compared to modern games - that's not to say it hasn't aged well (it's aged well-ish) but the genre has moved in a different direction, for better or worse.

Rare replay on the switch would be incredible, worth it for Banjo Kazooie alone

I'd be all over Rare Replay like a rash as long as they were remastered with a graphical update.

If Rare Replay did come out on the Switch it'd probably end up releasing at like £50 or something, though. I'd love portable Banjo Kazooie (and Perfect Dark 0, tbf), but not for that sort of price. Especially since they're literally giving it away on the Xbox now :slol:

I'd almost certainly pay £50 to play portable Atic Atak and Gunfright but then I'm a fool and I'm easily parted with my money.

Nah, if Rere Replay was to come to Switch, I would expect a max price of £30. Wasn’t it about £20-odd when it launched on XBO?
