Thought my left joycon was on its way out earlier as it was acting very oddly when playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (still not got that pipe frame ), turns out I’d accidentally put on one of the assist modes available

Thinking more about this Gamepass coming to Switch deal, is anyone else expecting this to effectively kill third party games coming to Switch?

Say you can stream a version of the next Wolfensein via Gamepass, what would the incentive be to actually do a native Switch port? Could this also have a negative effect on porting studios such as Panic Button?

The incentive is there would be a native Switch port.
Playable handheld wherever you happen to have your Switch with you, regardless of the quality or existence of an internet connection.

There are tons of people who exclusively or almost exclusively play the Switch handheld. On the way to work, at work, on a plane, tons of other places where you might not have access to a fast internet connection, or even an internet connection at all. That's a lot of potential sales to throw out just because people can already play a laggy version of the game with video compression artifacts.

I’m waiting to unlock the pipe frame, nearing 2000 coins now (spent a good few hours on it today) and still not unlocked it, I’ve never been a fan of the golden items really.

I think we’ll end up getting both physical ports and gamepass exclusive games for the ones that wouldn’t stand a chance of running natively on the Switch hardware. This way (as others have said already) this means people who don’t have a good enough internet connection, or play on the go a lot can still play a good chunk of the third party offerings and people who do have a good enough connection can have the option of buying a third party game (this would probably be me) so they can play whenever they want or streaming it via gamepass, if there is crossover I just hope the saves will transfer between a physical copy of the game and the gamepass version (how does gamepass handle saves anyway, are they stored on the cloud or locally on the console?).

Game pass isn't a streaming service, you download the games on xbox one. People are assuming games would have to stream on switch because otherwise many probably wouldn't be possible. xCloud is the upcoming Microsoft streaming project I believe.

Ah I presumed gamepass already streamed straight to the Xbox One rather than just downloading games to play, makes sense that an announcement of gamepass potentially coming to the Switch is waiting till xcloud goes live then.

So conflicted. I like Out Run, I love the graphics and music, it's a classic, it's "only" four quid... but I have it on 3DS and I'm meant to be cutting back. First-world problem etc.

Something along the lines of leaving your switch on to play a mammoth 48 track grand prix by itself so you rack up tons of coins.
