Looking like Q1 starts with the NSMB port and ends with Yoshi and not much in between.

Thought they might have something for Feb time for the final push towards their 20m hardware target. Which they’re looking like they still might make to be fair.

Smash and Pokémon will do that to/for a company.

They must have something lined up for Feb surely? It can’t just be 2, 2D platformers that Nintendo have in the pipeline for Q1 2010?

I think the schedule for "big" games coming to Switch is currently looking like this...

Feb 26 - Trials Rising
Mar 29 - Yoshi's Crafted World
Apr 16 - Final Fantasy X / X2 Remastered
Apr 23 - Mortal Kombat 11
Apr 23 - Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Apr 29 - Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Remastered
May 21 - Team Sonic Racing

There are tons of smaller indie titles releasing through this period but, yeah, it's not looking spectacular. In particular, I do kinda wonder about Nintendo itself; it seems that there may be just the port of Mario U and Yoshi's Crafted World for this first half of the year. From a personal point of view I'm not that interested in those two titles, either; but I am looking forward to seeing Dragon's Dogma and FF XII arriving :-) .

I preordered Octahedron and had hoped to play it today. Meant to be released today (16/01/19) but still not able to play! Anyone else having the same issue?

Yeah, it does say 16th in the eShop, Tramp. But I just looked on Twitter and the maker, Demimonde, has suggested that the Switch version will be out tomorrow:

Edit: Yeah, Demimonde's website has been updated to say the Switch version launches on the 17th, too. That'll probs mean it'll be ready from 14:00 (UK) in line with the usual eShop update.

For some reason I had an idea that Daemon x Machina was a February game, but it's looking like I imagined it.

Anyway: this looks awfully Earthbound.

I like the look of yiik, it looks different and the reviews seem generally positive. It will be one I pick up in a sale rather than full price

I’m more willing to try out ‘different with a possibility of awful’ than I am many things.

I looks almost derivative to me, like it's trying too hard to capture that Earthbound quirkiness and chasing the success of Undertale and Persona.

Basically it giving itself a tagline of "A Postmodern RPG" really soured me against it. It's shameless self-promotion and feels inauthentic.

It's funny because I played Desert Child over Christmas and that is highly derivative (one of the trailers is a literal remake of the Cowboy Bebop opening) but I enjoyed it a lot for the aesthetic (it looks stylish as hell and has a killer soundtrack). On paper the two games aren't too far apart in how they are presented.

Fortunately I am a pretentious twerp myself and so don’t mind the self-promotion. I thought the philosophical bits in Iconoclasts were great, so I’m still willing to give this a shot.

Ready for it to be bobbins, mind. And it’ll still have to wait until I’ve unlocked every piece of music in Smash.

Pretentious is probably the perfect word for how the game looks to me, yes

And I really need to play Iconoclasts

TBH, SNES games are.cool and all that, but it doesn't add much value for me. I get we'll get 2 SNES games a month at most. And it'll the same old shite we've had before. Nintendo should've had the Switch Virtual Console and made it a massive library of past games from the off. Not this gooseberry fool show if here's 2 games a month shite.

Don't get me wrong I have the NES app and have spent some time on it (about 20 minutes.) They just could do more considering we pay for the service and online is not good, smash lags, Mario Kart gets disconnects and 'can't join' nonsense. I do t know how they can go from the Wii VC too this and I have to pay. banana splits.

They defo need to sort the online out, it needs better friend options like messaging and being able to create a party/send game invites from the system itself. its lacking in basic features and they need to address this ASAP.

I like the idea of a Netflix style VC service but, as you mention, the rate they release games it will take years to build up a massive games library.

Seeing as I already have a SNES Mini, an actual SNES, several SNES games on Wii and Wii U VC (and SNES emulators on my phone and laptop), the idea of a couple of SNES games a month on Switch isn't a big sell for me either. I love some of those games but I have enough legitimate ways to play them.

If N64 games were brought into the conversation, then they'd have my attention.
