I played it a little bit on Wii U. It seemed fun but didn't really grab me, think it's more of a party game

Can anyone explain the headphone situation with the switch as I’m a bit confused. I remember hearing about the need for using a phone and an app in order to use them but then my son played fornite with his cousin yesterday and was able to just plug headphones into the switch and it worked. Is the whole phone thing only applicable for when the switch is docked? So will all games that offer voice support work in handheld mode by plugging your headphones straight in?

It's Nintendo being stupid and not realising what a catastrophic mess the phone system is.
The ability to use regular headphones/mic in the jack for online chat is there in the system, but Nintendo just refuses to use it - instead creating a system where only certain of their games can have voice chat and only through the app. Meanwhile, other developers - such as Epic - can just tap straight into the system for such features. It makes it a bit awkward when docked without an extension, but still fully usable.

Yeah, it seems that Fortnite is the only game that enables voice chat through just plugging in a (chat) headset. Nintendo's own method is... ridiculously over-complicated. I can see why they've done it (docked / portable issues) but it is rather silly.

Thanks guys. So aside from fornite where I can just plug a headset directly into the switch how does it work for the other games. You download an app to your phone but do you then still connect your headphones to the switch or do they have to be wireless to use it whilst it’s docked?

Just got my first Victory Royale on Fortnite. I feel I have the motion controls and substantial luck to thank. The last guy must have fragged himself or been in the storm, cos I never saw him...

At the moment only Hori has released an adapter; it comes with a (pretty basic) headset and you have to use the app on your phone whilst plugging cables between everything. I don't think many people use it.

For now, we gotta await Nintendo's Online launch in September and hope that they implement a Fortnite-style headset approach.

Of course, you may still be better off using Discord on your computer / phone / tablet like we already do on the Kart Monday and Rocket Tuesday nights :toot: .

Anyone ever had to send their joy cons off to Nintendo to get fixed? My right one is now drifting up when it sits neutral. Causing grief playing FPS games and messing badly with the camera in Xenoblade.

I want to get it fixed, but don’t want to be switch less for weeks.
