I've had a look on the eShop and it seems that your characters proceed on a set path, with you just choosing the fight moves that they make as they approach baddies. There is a raft of weapon-booster add-ons to purchase too; it doesn't feel good and I'm gonna hold off purely because I don't want to fall into that hole of paying to get through the game.
I've noticed that a few of you guys have tried out the game - what did you reckon if it? Were my thoughts too harsh?
I've played the first hour perhaps. It's kinda fun, pretty simple - you spend time organising your team in advance of setting out on an expedition (by choosing 3 Pokemon from the ones you have available, equip stat boosters which you unlock as you go, stuff like that) and then in mission you just pick attacks as your characters move themselves. You unlock more Pokemon by cooking meals with ingredients found on levels and waiting for them to appear at your base.
I haven't played enough yet to get to the point where spending money on it would help me, but I can see enough wait timers and such that I can see it being an issue later on.
