Fisher is not (at least detectably) an alt. The posts don't appear to be automated, queued, or automatically generated. They post using a normal browser.

As far as I can tell they are just a weird person, like some bizzaro-world SONM equivalent of RogueLeader.

I doubt that the person behind that keyboard is trying to frustrate you all. Maybe they are legitimately strange, maybe they are adopting a strange persona for fun. Probably it's the latter, but I've seen plenty of people online over the years who are just straight-up the former. Either way, is that bannable?

I don't see this as some kind of "2016-era Politics Thread" situation, where a member is deliberately making the thread all about them in a way that makes it difficult to have other discourse. They are just... posting. I read this thread religiously and it doesn't bother me at all. What actually derails the thread is the 20 posts worth of follow-ups and parodies, but that's a choice you are all making as a subcommunity.

I think it would be pretty sad if I had to thread ban someone to stop you all from rounding on them. I think that would be an indictment of our community, which I would have hoped could live and let live, or at least use the ignore function.

I have no problem with fisher really but the joke has lost its edge somewhat and we all have to pay the price for our actions. And if those actions are to turn this into nothing more than the "fisher thread©" then that price needs to be paid.

In the future we should develop succinct terminology to refer to situations like this where someone has to be pay for such actions.

We could call it the 'Fisher Price'.

No pal, they're from a normal ISP. And none of the other SONMers who it might hypothetically be are using a proxy service either, they are on different legitimate IPs associated with different home broadband providers.

Captain Toad will have to join my backlog, along with Shining Resonance Refrain, which is due tomorrow. Expensive week. I really hoped SRR would drop a bit more, but at least Toad was under £27.

But yes even though I have already gone over Captain Toad on Wii U I will be picking it up again on Switch, maybe not this week but I will pick it up once I clear the backlog a wee bit. I love Captain Toad and I would love to see an all new game go into production.

But... Fisher, dude, it does now feel a little like "trolling" even if you don't mean it to be. It may be worthwhile moving away from your "routine" approach and bringing a wee bit more weight to your posts.

No specific date has been advised yet, Rex - it's still down as "2018", I believe. "Summer" was being bandied about and I'd interpret that as September.

Is the JRPG Octopath? I started the demo but it was really really really slow going, so I haven't gone back to it yet. Is it actually good, then?

Admission: I didn’t think CTTT was all that great. A nice little curio, but it felt a bit twee and rather repetitive in places, which is almost impressive for a game its size.

Still more fun than ‘Hunt the Fisher’, mind.

Just a note with my SONM hat on: Fisher used to post at other times of day, it actually took a while for his switch to 11.48 posts to be noticed on SONM because they would be in different threads. We did IP checks at the time (as Karl has done here) and he doesn't appear to be anyone's alt. I have zero problems with his posts, but if they annoy you for whatever reason then as suggested the ignore function is there.

I no longer own a Switch but I come in daily for the fisher. My day would always be incomplete if I didn't get to find out he'd unlocked another kart in Mario Kart 8
