This was my exact response as well, although I think I made the decision to ditch the completionist approach a bit earlier! There's just so much filler in the game, none of it is particularly relevant or interesting from a story perspective, and the rewards for doing it are usually gooseberry fool as well! At least XC2 had the blade quests that were mildly interesting from a lore/character perspective

As much as I'm intrigued to play XCX to see what all the discussion around it has been about, if it was a toss up between getting a port of that and them working on a possibly XC3 then I'd rather have the latter at this point!

Well yeah they must have been busy on something. I know they tend to get used as a "helper" studio on other Nintendo things as well so they've probably got a hand in BOTW2 for example but there absolutely has to be something of their own they've got cooking as well.

For sure, helping on BOTW didn't stop them getting XC2 out the door in 2017. I would be really surprised if we don't get something new from them by the end of 2022.

Had it just over a week now and I’m really unimpressed by the switch pro controller. It’s terrible for 2D games in particular.

The stick feels too long and it has a massive dead zone for games with digital inputs.

Only just now realized that even though this has only been released in the US at the moment, that's not much of a hindrance to a system lacking region locking.
So do I just change my country of residence in my Nintendo account to the US, or is there more to it?
