I made the order as a guest, using paypal, as I didn't have an account with them. Strangely enough, I thought I'd set up an account just now to see if it would tie my order to it (based on email address) and the key came through instead of a verification email. So there may well be some connection. Thanks!

Picked up Cruisin' Blast for £20 on eshop.

I loved Horizon Chase and a couple of other retro aesthetic arcade racers so I'm definitely think I'm going to have fun with Cruisin'

That's a good price, Barnsy. Hope you enjoy the arcade racin'.

I picked up Fez in the eShop sale earlier this week and I just gave it a go. I originally played it on the 360 and this Switch version seems to play well; the sharp, colourful graphics look great in portable mode.

I'd forgotten about how the game opening goes; it contains a clever sequence - the game re-setting itself - that is very neat.

I'm liking it so far. Weirdly, we went bowling tonight and they had the arcade version of this game there which was fun. It was very cool to come home and then play the arcade mode on the switch.

Is Hyrule Warriors worth it at the discounted price? Zelda is the only series I seem to be enjoying at the moment and I'll be happy to jump in straight after I've finished OoT (just coming to the end of the Water Temple so a while to go yet).

Blimey! That was quite a coincidence, Barnsy! I understand that the arcade version included some race commentary lines but the Switch version has far more courses and vehicles.

I like Warriors games, Ob - although, shamefully, I've only put a little time into them so far - but they really are nothing like standard Zelda titles. Warriors gameplay is centred upon fast fighting action and the Hyrule Warriors versions simply brings Zelda-themed characters and coverings into that mix. They're very good, but - despite Nintendo's advertising for Calamity - they're not the usual Zelda fare at all.

Good point. Don't like downloading demos for some reason but might give it a go.

That's my concern. I'm just falling for the skin. I like the sound of "satisfying progression" I read about in one review but not sure how long I'll last without getting bored if it's essentially 'hack and slash ad nauseam'.

Age of Calamity is a fun way of returning to Hyrule and getting abit more story out the champions. Technical performance is abysmal and gameplay wise it definitely gets repetitive. I put it down after 15 hours and haven't returned back to. I do plan to, but it's definitely more mindless fun than anything.

No more repetitive than most other games tbh, it's like saying you get bored of always racing in mario kart.

I get the meaning behind calling something repetitive, but it is kinda moot when it's not anything could be called repetitive. Unless you're doing the exact same thing each and every time, there's variation.

Specifically with Warriors games and Hyrule Warriors in particular, the thing that gets called repetitive is the combat, which... fair. But also not. Since there's more to the combat than just button mashing. You want efficiency to clear out as many as you can as fast as you can in order to grow stronger, and for that you want to utilise the full range of combat options - including combos by stringing together both light and heavy attacks. Ignore the small fry. No need to clear them all out. Just enough to power up the special attack.

However, I do understand it's a very particular type of game. Not to everyone's tastes. But you never know unless you experience it for yourself.

But I do.

It needs the online to keep it fun because then you have the competitive aspect.

I feel the Warriors games are quite niche when it comes to prolonged play in my opinion, definitely each to their own as with any style of game though. I enjoyed what I played of the first back one on the Wii U, I’ve been tempted a couple of times by Age of Calamity as well but ultimately decided against it as there’s just been other games I’d prefer to play than it, dare say it’s a pretty good game overall.
