Roof party jokes aside I still think it was a brilliant introductory video for the machine, I was convinced right from that moment that Nintendo were on to a winner with it!

It was a brilliant reveal. Immediately sold the concept in simple terms and had the branding to match.

The polar opposite to the Wii U basically.

I can’t remember what time the trailer was on at (I want to say 5am ish time) but I know I definitely got up for it and was sold on it from that one trailer, I left it a few months before getting a Switch (finally got one in August 2017) as I had BoTW to play on the Wii U first, can’t believe they launched the Switch with a port of all things

BOTW launching on Switch was essentially Nintendo spitting on the Wii U's grave, because not only did it rob the Wii U of it's own Zelda game but it was definitely delayed to meet the Switch's release and also clearly had gamepad content removed.

It's funny how folk can develop different perceptions and opinions of new consoles. For the Wii U I was hyped from the off and had my pre-order in right away whereas with the Switch I was very cool on it at first and eventually cancelled my pre-order... before then getting the system around six weeks after launch.

Similarly, I was well up for the PS4 and stormed in at launch but for the PS5 I was far more unsure; was I gonna switch to Xbox? I got one in the end - nine months after launch - although cost and availability were also factors in this instance.
