ANNOUNCEMENT DIRECT VIDEO

WHAT IS NINTENDO SWITCH?
At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting Nintendo Switch from the dock, the system will instantly transition to portable mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on an airplane, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment.

Gaming springs into action by removing detachable Joy-Con controllers from either side of Nintendo Switch. One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch systems together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition.

“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO, Nintendo of America. “It gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries.”

Developers can design their games supporting a variety of play styles, which gives gamers the freedom to choose an experience that best suits them.

Damn, the system is almost 4 years old now

What would everyone say were the best indie’s on the system? The Switch is a haven for indie gold these days, Katana Zero is on that springs to mind for me, fantastic action game that was my personal GOTY the year it came out.

Anyone planning on picking up Gnosia tomorrow? Looks pretty interesting as a VN fan, and someone who admire Among Us from afar, but isn't a fan of (read hates) multiplayer gaming with randoms.
I realy enjoyed Raging Loop when i played it a couple of years back, and apparently this draws from some of the techniques used there.

We're on the fifth year of the Switch, now, and it's already looking a better one than last year.

I think I've got about 35 games on Switch, and the split is probably about 50/50 between "big" games and indies.

That is a great game.

Hades, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Untitled Goose Game, Golf Story, Celeste, Into the Breach, Streets of Rage 4, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Layer, Timespinner, Snake Pass, Cadence of Hyrule and one most have missed Tiny Metal Full Metal Rumble (the best Advance Wars game since AW2).

Just imagine how gooseberry fool the Switch library would be without indies.

Great day to start the new chat thread, Rula - and I like how you've included Truck Driver, one of your faves, in the banner graphic :-).

I can't believe it, right, IM?!? Four years today! I recall holding off from the system at launch and thinking that I wouldn't jump aboard... I held out for nearly eight weeks until I bought the console at the end of April  .

For me, it's a great system and the dual TV/portable play option remains the best thing about it; I love that feature. Hardware-wise I like the main unit and the Pro Controller is great. The joy-con are a little poor - they make holding the console a little uncomfortable and so many folk have had drift - whilst the dock has bare-minimum build quality.

Game-wise... I'm forever unsure! There is a huge range of games and some truly excellent titles - it feels harsh to gripe. But, even so, I think a big factor is whether you were a Wii U owner or not; if you weren't then the range of Nintendo-made titles is great, but if you were then the top-tier Nintendo game catalogue maybe seems pretty thin. Third-party support has varied - not too many big titles (beyond ports of older games) from the huge publishers but a massive range of titles from indie producers. I kinda wish that we had seen more high quality from Nintendo themselves but when I look at my collection overall then there are plenty of amazing games.

Overall, I'm glad I have had the chance to play on Switch and there are lots of games I've enjoyed. At this stage I don't think I'll hold the console in quite the same regard as I do the Wii U and the PS4 but it's still one of my faves. Here's to many more years of gaming on Switch!

ITSMILNER wrote:...What would everyone say were the best indie’s on the system?...

I'd suggest Forager (excellent and addictive craft-em-up) and Night in the Woods (amazing storyline and characters in this super 2D quest).

Indies saved Switch for me, they have delivered some of my favourite experiences on the system.

Was Tiny Metal really good then? I played Wargroove but skipped over TM after hearing the original release wasn’t so great

Bit of hyperbole there, I feel. Only one of my 14 games is an indie and I do just fine.

Yeah the original was bland, but the sequel nailed it.

Cool, I feel that bar Mario Odyssey, Arms and BOTW the Switch library is pretty gooseberry fool. But that's me and my high standards I guess.

Welcome, Venom, to Switch Squad! I hadn't thought that you'd get a Switch!

You can check your friend code by tapping your user icon at the top-left screen of the home screen; your friend code will then be listed in the panel of info on the right.

Thank you, thank you! :D
Yes, getting one was the result of a combination of things; seeing beautiful landscape pics on twitter posted by you and others, watching gameplay of SM64 hitting the nostalgia feels and also just wanting a little bit of non-gritty upbeat gaming. I've played a little bit of Zelda and am just waiting for 3D Mario All-Stars to come.

It's my main console. Love the little guy. I was initially sceptical about the prospect of a 'Pro' console, but I think I'd be day one now.
