Yeah looks like it was 3pm

Nintendo Life 7/10
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/nintendo-switch/mario_golf_super_rush

For chunks of the experience the Adventure feels low on ideas, as you're told to play 3 holes first, then another set, then a 'qualifying' round to upgrade your badge; it's understandable as it teaches you courses and conditions, but lacks creativity. Then, as mentioned above, there's a plot twist and you get to learn one of two slightly quirkier techniques and even have a few boss encounters. They're pretty basic but it is silly fun, and by the time we wrapped up the story the overall impression was positive. This is very B-tier in terms of polish and quality

IGN 6/10
https://www.ign.com/articles/mario-golf-super-rush-review
Mario Golf: Super Rush is a comfort-food game that, to some (like me!), can take you to a happy place with a couple taps of the same button followed by an exclamation of “Nice Shot!” Its standout Speed Golf mode is a great twist on Mario Golf and a genuinely fun way to play that goes a fair way to spicing up an age-old formula by filling the space between swings with a madcap foot race to the next one. Though even if that mode is a tidy birdie, sadly there are just too many bogeys elsewhere in Super Rush in the form of a poor adventure mode, a slight selection of courses, low replayability, and just a general lack of things to do after you’ve burnt through its content once that make for an unsuccessful round. Arcade golf games like this are made to be played with friends for a long time, but there just doesn’t feel like enough variety on offer here to make me want to. Without that longevity I just can’t place Super Rush in the category of a top-tier Mario Golf game

Game Informer 8.25/10
https://www.gameinformer.com/review/mario-golf-super-rush/mario-golf-super-rush-review-teed-for-speed
Despite the underwhelming nature of the story mode, Mario Golf: Super Rush delivers plenty of golfing greatness. With a strong foundation and multiple fun avenues of play, Mario Golf: Super Rush carries on the long-standing tradition of Nintendo sports games by being a good time regardless of your fandom of the actual sport.

VGC 3/5
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/review/mario-golf-super-rush/
With any luck, a steady stream of extra content post-launch could potentially push it to the forefront of the series. For now, though, the game is great to play, but the lack of meatier features and a somewhat less wacky nature than expected means it falls short of being truly fantastic.

Scullion (of VGC and ex-ONM) says they've just become really secretive since somebody leaked Sword and Shield details.

Speaking of Sword and Shield, I saw earlier that two people have been ordered to pay $150k each in damages due to leaking them before release which might dissuade some people from leaking large portions of a game before release.

Maybe. I reckon the appeal of the 'day in the sun' will be too strong sadly.

Not too far away from what I'm expected.

The random element to accuracy is my biggest concern to be honest.

That was good timing! Ta, Drum - that assessment is very positive, so it'll be great for folk to re-visit Hawks on the go!

Thanks and hi, Robbo! Yeah, all well - The Doom Spoon advised me of one or two GR threads and they looked like fun things to join in with!

Nice to see you back

I haven't played it on the other consoles so I can't compare, but it runs fine. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with it.

The game itself is great obv. I only really remember playing the second one so a lot of the original is fresh to me.

75 on metacritic for a Mario Golf seems about right, if not actually decent for the series. I just don't think Golf as a video game really works. Nice of them to try mix things up with the more dynamic Speed Golf though.

Nice, kerr - the Disgaea series feels like a good fit for the Switch and it'll be interesting to see how this exclusive sixth entry fares on it.

It's cool that you re-visiting Tony Hawks, Spinny - it seems that most folk are saying that the core gameplay still stands up well today.

Jezo wrote:75 on metacritic for a Mario Golf seems about right, if not actually decent for the series...

Yeah, hopefully the game will get extra content (I believe Nintendo indicated this earlier in the week) and a touch more polish to push it up a few levels, Jezo.

I'm keen to try out that Monster Hunter Stories one, Godzilla. I have hopes for this game; the first entry on 3DS gained some generally good feedback.
