Have rented a copy of Astral Chain. Was looking to try another Platinum game, not really sure what to expect from it but I know it was reasonably well received. Looking forward to giving it a go.

JoyCon drift ruined my ability to play in handheld mode so I went out this week looking for an alternative like a hori left joycon or a split pad pro.
After mentioning all the stuff I could use it instead of a joycon to the staff at game one of them remembered they had this behind the counter.

It seems to be alright. I wanted it for playing in bed but it's not really made for that as the tablet hangs off the controller and weights the whole thing down, you need to be lying down in a specific way to really use it. It's up to the task if you're sitting down though. I'd much rather use it over a working joycon.

This is probably a pricing error so not sure if it will be honoured but Curry's have Metroid Dread for £27: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gaming/co ... 0-pdt.html

It’s well worth that sum. It’s a nicely put together, very accessible game, with loads of different challenges to keep you playing. For anyone who like Slay the Spire, but is happy to face a bit more randomness it’s pretty essential at that price.

Its bloody good! Might take a while to get your head around it though.

Been trying out Daemon X Machina on the free trial and whilst I'm mostly enjoying the gameplay, the visuals and the damn good music I feel so detetched to everything that is happening. It's not just down to the silent protagonist either. It's clear a fair bit of thought and effort has gone into the characters/world/lore but none of it really lands. Also starting to feel the missions are getting rather repetitive.

I felt pretty much exactly the same. Or rather, I probably liked the gameplay and visuals less than you did, and everything else just feels a bit soulless. Also the characters so far are terrible. I did five missions, then dumped it. It's a shame, as I remember being really quite keen on the reveal and less down on the first demo. than many, but... yep, not fussed.

Ok, the OLED screen looks pretty nice there! Still not worth the upgrade to me barring any disasters with my current Switch (which I’m hoping will just see me through to the Switch 2) but can see why some people are eager for the screen upgrade.

Anyone else notice in the latest system update we got an “update dock software” option as well? Don’t recall seeing that before today.

Still waiting on the Direct announcement of course! :toot:

I’m still thinking the typical Septic direct could be pushed back into very late September/early October as a last push for Metroid Dread, alongside showing more of the Switch OLED.
