I just started this yesterday, having got it for Christmas and for some reason putting it off and off and off.

I went pretty easy on myself, just did the first set of levels and it's really impressive! I don't have the exercise 'gene' or whatever it is that gets people excited about exercise. I can't imagine ever having a feeling of 'I've not been to the gym for 2 days, I miss it terribly', but I can definitely see myself getting into this.

I'll try again today and push myself a bit harder - I can see how easy it would be to overdo it, though!

I've done 2 sessions on it with the Mrs (BAIT) for the past couple of evenings. The first was just getting it out of the box and trying some of the different modes. It works really well and the gameification of it all makes you almost forget that you're exercising.

Last night we actually made a conscious effort to build up a routine of exercises to do, so we did sets that worked the arms, core, back and legs, and then did some jogging. We haven't actually started the main adventure bit yet but I'm assuming you'll do a wide range of stuff during that so will give it a go soon enough.

Very conscious of not wanting this to become a quick fad that gets wheeled out every now and then, we're both quite determined to stick with it....but we'll see how long that lasts :slol:

I know Nintendo have released the OLED model but the vanilla Switch is still more than enough gaming for me.
What with Eastward looking tremendous, Monster Crown being released in October, and new mainline 3D Zelda and 3D Pokemon games, things are looking rosy. If Lonesome Village gets confirmed for Switch (and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, assuming it's good) then I'll be likely sitting out the next generation while catching up on this one!

Day 2 of Ring fit, so far so good. Got my partner to set up a character and start today as well. She really enjoyed it, even though she has done as little exercise as me over the past few years.

She is absolutely the definition of a non-gamer, so it was interesting to see how she handled the 'gamey' aspects of it. The menu selections were tricky to start with but she soon worked out with some help.

She dived straight into Adventure mode, which is what appealed to her when she first saw the advert and 'persuaded' me to get a switch.

The stats really appealed - she was taking screen shots etc so that she can log progress etc. which was great.

Honestly though, the language! I think when the second long set of steps appeared (which need high-knee steps) it was hilarious, if the switch could respond to speech that boss would have taken a right kicking before the battle even started.

Eventually completed the first after some distraction/fatigue so will certainly play the 2nd. Looks like there's some cool new dynamics.

Burgeoning metroidvania pile to get through though.

Did they ever sort of the issues with the Switch version of Bloodstained? You can pick up a physical copy for £12.95 and I wonder if its been improved?

Better but not fixed I'd say. Still the odd stutter and loading times are noticeable, but the game-ending moments seem to have been sorted. I enjoyed it well enough until the checkpoints got a bit far apart, and never finished it.

Worth £12.95? Or was it not that good

I liked but didn’t love Bloodstained, definitely worth £12.95 if you have enjoyed Castlevania games in the past.

I'd say so, yep. I think it's a 6/10, which for me is 'sale buy' territory.

Then again I've never played a proper Castlevania. Big gap in my gaming lexicon.

I really, really enjoyed Bloodstained! I played on PC where it was silky smooth and loading was a breeze so those factors might have influenced matters if I had played on Switch, but as an actual game I think it is bloody great!

Good combat, wonderful sense of exploration and progression, some nice mechanics with the shards that add depth to the proceedings, some great boss encounters, a nice visual style... it was just a great example of the genre IMO

I just want to note that while I broadly agree with Jenuall's more specific comments (I didn't care much for the visual style but that's such a YMMV issue, and you can make a decision on that from trailers anyway), I found this to be a bit of a sticking point. There were several times where I'd get a new navigational shard and the game's utter lack of pointers over a large area meant that if I couldn't remember where I'd come across that obstacle, I was stumped. Hollow Knight gets flack from some corners for being too obtuse in its waypointing, but I'd say it's much better than Bloodstained was.

Also: the bit where you need to get a navigational shard as a random drop to proceed is bad game design.

Think I might get this in the absence of any good Castlevania games being released on switch.

I've recently been playing Symphony of the Night through a PS1 emulator on my phone. Such a good game.
