yeah that was so good

- Stupid guy who strawberry floats up everything he touches.

I actually hated what they did with Nia as well.

I liked the game. But it's plot and characters are nowhere near the first one. Combat, area ideas and music are better though, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I put 80 hours into it in about a month. Because I did. It was like crack.

"Anime kid with bad voice acting"? Is this a reference to Rex? I genuinely love the voice performance for Rex, it's so earnest and childlike which works well IMO.

"Massive Boobs McGee"? Pyra/Mythra? There's no defending the boobs/ass fixation of the art/direction but character wise there is actually a lot of value going on with her. I didn't think any of the female characters in 1 came close.

I just don't get the fuss with the plot or characters for the first game, it's all so trite and obvious - any shocks or changes in direction are seen literally miles before they happen and it never really comes together to say anything. Like I say once you overlook the indulgences of the second game it's actually telling a far more impactful story.

Still prefer XC over XC2, both great games though! Think part of that is down to me playing XC first, plus the Future Connected content in the Definitive Edition was really good too.

I would imagine most people played XC1 first! Although I'll admit I don't 'do' nostalgia as much as some.

I'd agree with a lot of this. Characters and story were very much secondary for me, what got me hooked was the combat system and the blade levelling and unlocking. But then I'm a sucker for rpg systems.

I don't know how generic or cliché driven XC2's story is because I don't tend to play many JRPG's but I found it really engrossing and quite unique too.

I get people not liking certain characters but I think for the most the supporting cast are great fun too.

Yeah, referring to Rex there. I found the guy playing him terrible in any scenes that require him to be emotional. Saying that, I love his accent, but the performance falls flat.

I couldn't really get invested in Mythra or Pyra at all, most of all because of the aesthetics. Like...why the strawberry float you wearing tiny hot pants? Every cutscene made me feel like a pervert. I just didn't care much about her despite her being the focal point of the story.

Zeke :dread:

i think there was a few cliches in it but there are way more rpgs with a lot more done a lot worse

Looks good! I didn't like Super Mario 35 but I think Tetris 99 is brilliant, even if I stopped playing because I could never win
