Went through all of BT though, for the first time! Fantastic game, if a little worse than BK. I also felt that Nuts and Bolts was hugely underrated, but that is for a different thread.

I blooming loved Nuts and Bolts I even made a video asking people to give it another shot.... I even boot it up every now and then now just to build stuff and play around with it.

No I do get where you're coming from - there's something slightly dissonant about playing the Rare classic collection on the One, it just feels a little wrong!

I think it feels right playing banjo on a system that just has arrows on the face buttons, like the c buttons, except only two of them work. A right analogue stick is better tbh.

A right analogue stick is far better, obviously a different game but having the c buttons mapped to the right stick was a little annoying in OoT, the amount of times I equipped the wrong item :fp:

Ocarina of Time finished, still love this game

Sort of related to this - I've been playing rare replay on my Xbox recently and got to perfect dark. Holy gooseberry fool it's almost unplayable when it comes to the actual shooting part, and that's with a right stick. How on earth I used to play using the 4 camera buttons to aim :dread:

One day we might get a new iteration.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

It really isn't though, it just takes a bit of getting used to the old style of aiming and shooting, and possibly a bit of playing about with the controls. I replayed it a couple of years ago and by the time I got to dataDyne: Extraction it was fine.

Okay, if ever there was a time I would want customisable controls, it's with F-Zero. What idiot decided that a combination of trigger and button rather than just one or the other would be okay for the strafing? It is highly awkward to use a button for right and trigger for left. Why is it even a thing?

Is that the standard C-button mapping? The right analogue stick should strafe too, then.

Edit: I just realised that's even more awkward :fp:

Just hold down handbrake the entire time, that's how I play F-Zero GX and I've never had a problem.

Yeah, I normally just release the accelerate button to coast around corners, only using the brake for the tighter turns. But on the times I want to strafe - such as the thin parts of the road where even the slightest touch of the analogue could have me flying off the road, pressing ZR and having nothing happen panics me into making a mistake.

Thanks! I'll give it a go later. I would have spent (even more) time roaming around the same handful of rooms in the Gerudo fortress :fp:.

Had a go of F-Zero X last night for about an hour with the N64 controller. It's amazing how fresh it feels. The tunnel levels (?) are especially impressive and there really is nothing like them in this console generation. Hoping to find an insane X Cup track in which everyone perishes on a nasty turn ater tonight.

Played to just past the Woodfall temple in Majora's Mask. It's better than I remember and I remember it being great :D

I'm big on movement in games, and even Deku Link has such great, idiosyncratic movement that feels fun and rewarding - the spin-into-water hops, the boost-and-plump! of the flower petal gyros, the weirdo (but believable) balloon-pop-corkscrew of his bubble shot (and the slight iridescence of the bubble itself?!) - it's crazy that this is just one character of 5 core main ones - and it has so much specificity and charm and difference from Link proper.

I actually always get a little confused when people single out for praise the 'incredible' details of more modern games like BotW - I particularly remember Eurogamer or someone talking about how awesome it was that Link would grab his foot if kicking a chest without footwear on or something. And it's like - this buffet of abundance of detail is par for the course when Nintendo is on its A-Game man? Deku Link has to jump for some doors handles and swivel on them and this was 22-years ago.

Oh, and don't get me started on the sense of place and texture you get from the camera angles when you enter a new area! :toot:
