I'm actually getting annoyed that you described Majora's Mask masterfully crafted side quests as "bollocks", Skarjo  :capnscotty:

Ok, I mean it was 20 years ago, and they'd just let girls into the sixth form.

When there are people around a tree and they ask you for a certain number of masks to warp to the top of the tower? If you ask around one of them will do it for something like 7 masks. I had a pathetic amount of masks to finish majora's mask. Like less than a third.

So excited to start Majora's Mask  think I've only ever played it to completion once, when it first came out, and my abiding memory is of the top billy bollocks side quests.

There's simply no gaming experience as good as Zelda, in my opinion. What a treat it has been recently to play through Skyward Sword HD, Ocarina of Time and now Majora's Mask.

On the other track, only one person is tied to the rails. However, if he is killed, his criminal brother will download the entire N64 ROM library to play on an emulator. There is a lever next to the junction which would allow you to redirect the trolley. Standing behind it, a representative from Nintendo's legal department stares at you menacingly. Do you pull the lever?

I've never finished Majora's Mask, despite starting it several times on GC and 3DS. It is to me as Ocarina is to jawa.

I have however completed the prequel, Ocarina of Time Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.

Is there a reason to play the European version of any of these N64 games rather than the American version?

Also, why no CRT filter Nintendo?!

Nostalgia for worse frame rates and bigger borders?

I genuinely think the PAL title screen of Ocarina is better than the NTSC one. The slower gallop is more fitting, and the music lines up better with the logo.

I've been playing the PAL versions by default, without really thinking about it. Are you guys telling me the other one is actually better?!

Yes... While technically the resolution is lower, because the N64 has a low rendering resolution (although it's much higher in the emu), it isn't squashed to fit into the shape of a PAL window with black bars. I think the emulation removes black bars but, the main aspect is the games can generally hit a slightly higher framerate, with a much smoother framerate, running at the origanal speed. Because PAL is 24/25fps and NTSC 30fps (although hardly any games meet this target consistently on N64), to make games run at PAL specification they just slowed them down by a massive 20%.

PAL60 for GameCube etc is technically superior as its a higher resolution (more vertical lines) together with a 60Hz refresh rate, with some games running at 60frames per second. Perhaps there the confusion arises since this part changed.

NES/SNES/N64 are always better in NTSC variant.

The main reason you'd pick PAL over NTSC if you want other languages, my boyfriend wasn't pleased that some of games aren't available in PAL so he doesn't have option available. (English isn't his native language and he sometimes want to play it in his language for comfort which I get)

But yeah, other than that there's no real reason in going PAL on these games.

Just about ready for the time skip on Ocarina of Time, not quite sure why I wasted a bit of time buying all the beans though.

For FFS  :fp:.

Not massively keen to repeat what I've already done in Majora's Mask, but it must only have been about half an hour so I'll just have to suck it up.

Genuinely wondering what you could have done so early in the game

Not much, mostly cut scenes isn't it but it's just the overall idea of repeating anything. I can push through it pretty quickly. Gotta have that superior frame rate :slol:.

Just reached the Forest Temple before my Switch nearly died on me, still such a great game

Although not completlly gone, the 'stutter' in OoT and MM is far less noticeable. Very happy with them now....gonna finish up OoT before playing MM (my fave zelda game).
