Got to play them both at some point (again) ShuGuy64!

I need to get back to Banjo so I can make a start on Majora’s Mask and Paper Mario.

Lovely lil selection of hidden gem types! Alien Soldier especially is incredible :) Even Mario approves of it!

And finished banjo kazooie with all jiggies notes and extra honey combs. Something we never managed as kids

Right, what's the cheapest way to get this Expansion Pack then? Ive seen various deals online for 12 months of the standard online but not anything for this new service - do I just buy 12 months of normal online and then pay something on top to "upgrade"?

Cheapest way for me was finding a group on Facebook, chipping in with a bunch of other strangers at £7.50 a pop for a years family membership. Something to keep in mind when all ours start to expire a year from when the expansion pass was launched..

Yeah that's a good option if it works for you, sadly we've got 5 accounts in this house which want online access so it harder to find a group to split it with!

I would be up for an expansion pack family online sub (i'm feeling the draw of MK Mondays) if there is enough interest here. Not sure how many of us it requires before becoming cost effective. I also have no idea what the security risks are with it - do you have to share passwords etc?

Edit - Sorry, did not realise you had posted the initital question Jen :fp:

You don’t need to share passwords or anything. 5 people per sub so should work out at £7.50 each for a year and would rather do here as there’s more trust than groups on Facebook even though I’ve already took that chance :slol:

Nice. Well if anyone wants to coordinate one of these i'm in. Happy to chuck a couple of quid extra in for the effort.

I'm guessing there are not 4 other people here who are desperate for a NSO + Expansion pass mind.

So started super Mario 64 today. 54 stars access to all levels. I need to be wary of my nostalgia

I'm two dungeons down in Majora's Mask.

Loving this. I don't know if it's because it still holds up as a valid aesthetic if taken on its own terms, or if because my previous experience with it lets me accept it more readily, but even the 20fps N64 environments and animations still really work for me. I think 20fps is so low it doesn't even come close to/aspire to smoothness so becomes its own other thing - strangely cinematic and crisp and emphatic, you know?

And all the hit-pause stuff when hitting enemies (and that arrow streak as you pierce through a tektite and it pauses before it bursts apart all limbs asunder?!) is still really effective and crunchy and satisfying!

And the low-camera shift as Goron Link's spikes rush out as he rolls so fast?

Are we sure more modern games are better than this? Impossible for me to gauge objectively!

Was literally and coincidentally just playing it now - I still think it's a beaut to play :(

I've said many times but it's still true - I'd rather pirouette between trees in Peach's Castle's front-garden than play most other whole gamers - I was just doing it again!

It’s by no means a bad game just very frustrating in places. Lord knows how my brother and I made it to 70 stars when we were kids

120 stars on SM64 at long last. That’s 2 n64 games I’ve finally 100%ed, perhaps it’s a sign that I should finally hunt down all the gold skulltulas?

Then again Kirby is out tomorrow
